Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

The insured must notify the insurer from the seventh day of any inpatient hospital stay to enable assessment of possible home transport. If this notification obligation is breached and the insured would have been fit for transport, reimbursement of treatment costs is limited to the cost of an insurer-organised home transport.

Unauthorized treatment

If treatments exceed the medically necessary extent, the insurer's obligation to pay is reduced to the costs of medically necessary treatments. Fraudulent misrepresentation or deliberate circumvention of policy rules releases the insurer from liability and entitles termination of the contract.

Purchase while abroad

The insurance must be concluded before departure from Austria. Extension or follow-on insurance is excluded. No premium refund is possible if the stay abroad is cut short.

Chronic conditions

Acute episodes or relapses of pre-existing chronic or latent conditions are covered on the same basis as acute illnesses, provided the policy was concluded before the insured person reached age 75 at the time of policy inception.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy examinations, deliveries, and terminations of pregnancy are excluded from coverage.

pre_existing_conditions

Pre-existing conditions are generally not excluded; however, acute episodes of chronic or latent conditions are only covered if the policy was taken out before the insured person's 75th birthday. Planned treatments that were the reason for travel are excluded.

coverage_duration_limit

For the annual protection (Tarif RE/RF), coverage applies to each individual trip for a maximum of 6 weeks (42 days) from the start of that trip. If the insured is medically unfit for transport after a covered event beyond the coverage period, the period extends until transportability is regained and the immediate repatriation is completed.
