Assistance call deadline

In case of inpatient treatment or repatriation, UNIQA SOS-Service (+43 (0) 50677 670) must be contacted immediately. For outpatient treatment, costs are paid by the insured first and submitted to UNIQA within 3 months of trip end.

Unauthorized treatment

If repatriation or transfer of remains is not organized via UNIQA SOS-Service, reimbursement is capped at a maximum of EUR 2,410. Full cost guarantee applies only when UNIQA SOS-Service organizes the transport.

Purchase while abroad

Insurance must be taken out before the start of the journey. Extension of coverage after departure is not possible. The policy can only be purchased by persons with permanent residence in Austria who hold a valid Austrian statutory health insurance during the foreign stay.

Chronic conditions

Treatments of chronic diseases are excluded, except when arising as a consequence of an acute attack or acute episode of the chronic condition. Ongoing chronic disease management is not covered.
