Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

In case of hospitalization abroad, emergency transport to Austria, or repatriation of a deceased person, the UNIQA 24-hour SOS-Service (+43 (0)50677-670) must be contacted without delay so that costs can be advanced and measures organized.

Unauthorized treatment

If repatriation transport or the transfer/repatriation of a deceased person is not requested through and organized by UNIQA SOS-Service, reimbursement is limited to a maximum of EUR 1,950 instead of full cost coverage.

Purchase while abroad

The insurance must be concluded before the trip begins; it is not possible to purchase or extend cover after the trip has started.

Chronic conditions

Treatment of chronic illnesses is excluded from the medical cover, except when treatment is required as the consequence of an acute attack or flare-up.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy check-ups and deliveries are excluded, except for premature births occurring at least two months before the calculated due date.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Medical treatment that had already begun before the start of the insurance cover is excluded from benefits.

Coverage duration limit

Medical cover starts when the insured person leaves Austria and ends upon re-entry to Austria, but never longer than the chosen insurance duration; other benefit lines run from the stated trip start to trip end within that duration.
