Direct payment

When repairs are carried out by a DVV-approved repairer, the third-party payer system applies: DVV pays the covered damage directly to the repairer. Only uncovered damage, the deductible and recoverable VAT are billed to the insured. For glass breakage via Carglass, payment is likewise made directly, with no formalities for the insured.

Geographic scope

Worldwide

The Omnium insurance (Mini- and Full Omnium) is valid worldwide, without any distance limitation relative to Belgium.

Unique selling points

  • Free choice between two Omnium tiers (Mini-Omnium for fire/theft/glass/nature perils, or Full Omnium adding own-fault damage and vandalism cover).
  • No deductible applies to glass breakage or theft-related damage, unlike the Material Damage guarantee.
  • 24/7 Auto*Assistance helpline (0800 93 300) with free towing and a replacement vehicle when using a DVV-approved repairer.
  • DVV Stars loyalty points can be used to waive the deductible or protect the bonus-malus level after an at-fault claim.
  • A dedicated DVV consultant follows the claim file from start to finish, including for motorhome/camper policies.

Coverage limits

Own damage (at-fault accident damage)

Conditional

Only in Full Omnium

All material damage to the insured vehicle is covered unless explicitly excluded or covered by another guarantee. This Material Damage guarantee is only part of Full Omnium, not Mini-Omnium.

Source

Total loss

Covered

In case of total loss, the indemnity equals the vehicle's value at the time of the claim (new value, agreed value -6/-12/-24/-36/-48 months, functional value or actual value depending on the chosen system), less the wreck value.

Source

Partial loss / repair costs

Covered

For partial damage, repair costs established by contradictory assessment or invoice are reimbursed, plus non-recoverable VAT. Urgent or provisional repairs are reimbursed up to 1,000 EUR without prior damage assessment.

Source

Theft / robbery

Covered

Theft of the vehicle or its equipment, and damage caused to commit the theft, are covered under both Mini- and Full Omnium. In case of theft, a replacement vehicle (max category B) is provided for up to 21 days.

Source

Glass breakage

Covered

Covers breakage of the windshield, side windows, rear window and glazed sliding/tilting roof, excluding double glazing or armoured windows, under both Mini- and Full Omnium. Repairs via Carglass require no formalities and no cost to the insured.

Source

Forces of nature & related perils

Covered

Covers damage from exceptional forces of nature (rockslide, avalanche, storm >80km/h, hail, flood, earthquake, volcanic eruption...) and related perils such as collision with game (with police report), chain collision (min. 4 identified vehicles), marten/rodent damage to cabling, and damage during transport of the vehicle by train, boat or towing service.

Source

Vandalism

Conditional

Only in Full Omnium

Damage caused by vandalism or malicious acts is covered under the Material Damage guarantee (Full Omnium only), provided that a police report was filed immediately after the incident with the competent police or judicial authority.

Source

Auto*Assistance (roadside)

Covered

Auto*Assistance: towing of the vehicle to the approved repairer, expert assessment, organisation of the technical inspection after repair, and the third-party payment system at approved repairers, valid in Belgium and up to 30 km beyond the border.

Source

Replacement vehicle

Covered

A replacement vehicle (max category B) is provided for the duration of repairs in case of partial damage, for 6 days in case of total loss, and up to 21 days in case of theft, via a DVV-approved garage. For motorhomes, the replacement vehicle provided is a passenger car, not another motorhome.

Source

Driver bodily injury

Optional

Driver bodily injury is not included in Omnium but can be insured separately via the optional Driver guarantee (Death, Permanent Disability, Treatment Costs, Indirect Losses), with amounts set in the special conditions.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

No specific minimum age or driving experience is stated for the Omnium guarantee itself; however, cover is void if, at the time of the claim, the driver does not hold a valid driving licence for the insured vehicle.

Repair network requirements

Using a DVV-approved repairer unlocks the Auto*Assistance benefits (towing, replacement vehicle, third-party payer system, free storage); for motorhomes, the replacement vehicle provided via an approved repairer is a passenger car, not another motorhome.

Territorial scope

The Omnium guarantee is valid worldwide (Art. 8), unlike the Responsabilité Civile and Assistance guarantees, which are limited to the countries shown on the insurance certificate or to Belgium plus a 30 km border zone.

Anti-theft requirements

If stipulated in the special conditions, Theft cover requires the vehicle to be fitted with an anti-theft system meeting the specified requirements, kept in good working order at the insured's expense; during the first 30 days after the insurance application, cover is not conditional on the system's presence unless stated otherwise.

Claim notification deadline

Any claim must be reported within 8 days of becoming aware of it (Art. 16); in case of theft, an immediate report must also be filed with the competent police or judicial authority.

Deductible rules

A deductible set in the special conditions applies only to the Material Damage guarantee of Full Omnium (e.g. from 400 EUR for an insured value under 15,000 EUR excl. VAT); no deductible applies to glass breakage or theft-related damage. An 'English franchise' option is also available, under which DVV pays the full claim once it exceeds the deductible threshold.
