Sava osiguranje, d.d. - Croatian Branch (branch of Zavarovalnica Sava, d.d. / Sava osiguranje, d.d., Maribor, Slovenia)
Sava osiguranje
Sava osiguranje is a motor casco insurance for the Croatia market with online purchase and limited assistance availability.
Direct payment
The insurer pays compensation directly to the insured (for leased vehicles under a pledged/vinkulirana policy, the total-loss payout goes to the leasing company while partial-loss payouts go to the insured); payment is due within 14 days of notification of the claim, or within 30 days if establishing the claim requires further investigation, and the insurer must pay the undisputed part of its obligation as an advance without delay. Damage may be settled on the basis of a domestic repair-cost estimate rather than requiring payment directly to a repair shop.
Geographic scope
Republic of Croatia and Green Card System member states
Cover applies in Croatia and in other Green Card System member states at the time of the insured event; cover outside the Green Card System, or for company vehicles performing construction/assembly works abroad, must be separately agreed.
Unique selling points
- Fast, fully online casco quote and purchase flow ('Brza Online Ponuda') on the insurer's website.
- Replacement vehicle available during repairs at authorized partner service centres for customers holding both MTPL and full casco.
- Optional bonus protection shields the policyholder's accumulated MTPL bonus-malus class from being downgraded by a casco claim.
- Broad menu of named optional add-ons (glass breakage, several tiers of roadside assistance, machinery breakdown, luggage/accessories cover) to tailor the policy.
Coverage limits
Own Damage / Full Casco
Covered
Only in puno kasko
Full casco covers destruction of or damage to the insured vehicle caused by sudden events beyond the policyholder's or driver's control, including traffic accidents, fire, storm, hail, lightning, explosion, snow avalanche, flood and vandalism; the sum insured is based on the vehicle's value, no fixed monetary limit is stated in the terms.
Total Loss
Covered
Only in puno kasko
In case of total loss (destruction or theft of the vehicle), compensation is based on the vehicle's value at the time of loss assessment, reduced by the market value of any salvage.
Partial Loss
Covered
Only in puno kasko
For partial damage, compensation is based on the cost of repair, reduced by the market value of the residual value of replaced parts; the amount may be agreed on the basis of a domestic repair-cost estimate.
Theft and Robbery
Covered
Only in puno kasko
Covers theft, burglary, unlawful taking of the vehicle for use, robbery and armed robbery of the vehicle; the vehicle is deemed lost if not found within 30 days of reporting it to the police.
Glass Breakage
Optional
Optional add-on covering standard factory-fitted glass on the vehicle, excluding glass on interior lights, mirrors and screens; cover applies up to the glass sum insured stated on the policy for one claim event per insurance period.
Natural Perils
Covered
Only in puno kasko
Full casco covers storm (wind of 17.2 m/s or more), hail, lightning, snow avalanche (including air-pressure damage), flood, torrents and high water, subject to specific exclusions for areas permanently exposed to flood risk.
Vandalism
Covered
Only in puno kasko
Covers damage caused by malicious acts or wanton behaviour of third parties.
Roadside Assistance
Optional
Only in Asistencija, Basic, Basic Plus, Premium, Premium Plus, Poduzetnik, Moto, Moto Premium
Optional roadside assistance organizes help in emergencies such as traffic accidents, breakdowns, vandalism, theft, vehicle damage and fuel/key problems; sold under several named assistance products with different service levels.
Replacement Vehicle
Optional
Optional replacement vehicle service during repairs, available at authorized partner service centres for private customers holding both an active MTPL policy and full casco.
Driver/Occupant Accident
No limit stated
No dedicated occupant/driver accident benefit is defined in the casco terms and conditions or in the IPID for this product; a separate accident cover is advertised on the insurer's general motor-insurance page but is not listed among the casco add-ons in the IPID.
Key conditions
Driver age and experience limit
The casco terms and conditions do not set a minimum driver age or licence-experience threshold; cover is lost only while the vehicle is driven by a person without a valid licence for that vehicle category (except learner drivers under supervision).
Repair network requirements
No mandatory authorized repair network is required to settle a standard casco claim; the amount of partial damage can be agreed on the basis of a domestic repair-cost estimate. An optional replacement-vehicle benefit, however, is available only through the insurer's authorized partner service centres.
Territorial scope
Cover applies in the Republic of Croatia and in other Green Card System member states at the time the insured event occurs; cover for countries outside the Green Card System, or for company vehicles performing construction/assembly works abroad, must be separately agreed.
Anti-theft requirements
Theft, burglary and robbery cover requires that the vehicle (or the accessories/parts/tools claimed) was locked at the time of the theft; the insurer is not liable if the theft occurred, or was facilitated, because the vehicle was left unlocked.
Claim notification deadline
The policyholder must report the insured event to the insurer immediately, confirming it in writing within 3 days; theft, fire, explosion and traffic accidents that leave the vehicle undrivable must additionally be reported to the competent police station within 24 hours of becoming aware of them.
Deductible rules
If a deductible (franšiza) is contracted, it is deducted from the compensation as stated on the policy. If no deductible is contracted, a mandatory multi-claim deductible applies per insurance year: 1% of the sum insured for the 2nd claim, 2% for the 3rd claim, and 4% of the sum insured for the 4th and every subsequent claim.
