Direct payment

The insurer pays compensation directly to the injured third party, not to the policyholder.

Geographic scope

Croatia and Green Card System member countries

Coverage applies in the Republic of Croatia and in other member countries of the Green Card System.

Unique selling points

  • Optional AO Bonus Protection clause lets policyholders keep their earned premium tier despite a first reported claim.
  • Choice of three tiers of 24/7 roadside assistance (Hrvatska, Regija, Europa) that can be added to the base MTPL policy.
  • Optional combined driver-and-passenger personal accident cover (death and permanent disability) can be attached to the MTPL policy.
  • Green Card coverage automatically upgrades to the higher statutory minimum sum insured of the country where a claim occurs, if higher than Croatia's.
  • 24/7 multilingual contact centre for roadside assistance, reachable domestically and from abroad.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Coverage applies in the Republic of Croatia and in other member countries of the Green Card System.

Green card rules

If the country where the accident occurred prescribes a minimum sum insured higher than Croatia's, the insurer must provide cover up to that country's higher minimum sum insured.

Driver restrictions

The insured loses rights under the policy (and the insurer may pursue regress) if the vehicle was not used for its intended purpose, the driver lacked a valid licence or was disqualified, drove under the influence of alcohol (≥0.5‰) or drugs, caused the damage intentionally, or the damage resulted from a criminal act of reckless driving.

Claim notification deadline

The insured must notify the insurer of a claim within 3 days of becoming aware of the event and provide full, truthful details of the accident and its circumstances.

Bonus-malus rules

MTPL premium is set according to a premium-tier (bonus-malus) system; an optional AO Bonus Protection clause lets the policyholder keep the same premium tier at renewal despite one reported claim per insurance period, and the insurer may reclaim (regress) up to 12 average net salaries from a driver responsible for aggravated violations such as drink-driving.
