Direct payment

Premiums are paid via direct debit (Betalingsservice) or payment/giro card, with the first payment due when the policy takes effect and later payments on the agreed due dates. Administration costs and statutory charges (state duty, non-life insurance tax, environmental contribution, guarantee fund contribution) are added to the premium. If payment is late, a reminder is sent no earlier than 14 days after the due date, and the policy lapses if payment is not received within 21 days after the reminder is sent.

Geographic scope

Denmark and Green Card countries

The insurance covers Denmark and the countries where the Green Card scheme applies. If a separate frontier/border insurance has been taken out for driving abroad, this policy only covers to the extent the other insurance does not.

Unique selling points

  • Unique kilometer-interval pricing lets customers pay only for the annual mileage they actually expect to drive.
  • Free choice of repair workshop, with AROS partner workshops additionally offering a loan car.
  • Selectable deductible from DKK 1,500 up to DKK 9,500, letting customers tailor the policy to their risk appetite and budget.
  • Aros is a customer-owned mutual insurer with no shareholders to pay dividends to.
  • Claims can be reported around the clock through the Mit Aros online platform, with a dedicated business-hours phone line for follow-up.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies in Denmark and in countries where the Green Card scheme applies; if a separate frontier insurance for driving abroad exists, this policy only covers what the other insurance does not.

Green card rules

All insurers providing compulsory motor liability cover in Denmark must be members of DFIM (Dansk Forening for International Motorkøretøjsforsikring). If the compulsory liability insurance lapses, this is reported to DFIM, which can impose a fee of DKK 250 per day for an uninsured motor vehicle; a new policy cannot be taken out until the fee is paid.

Driver restrictions

Cover includes the policyholder and anyone using the car with the policyholder's permission or as its driver. Other regular/authorised users must be listed on the vehicle's registration certificate and on the insurance policy; incorrect information about the actual user can reduce or void the right to compensation.

Claim notification deadline

Any damage must be reported to the insurer immediately, as delay can affect the compensation available. Robbery, theft or vandalism must also be reported immediately to the police. The insurer is entitled to reject comprehensive (kasko) claims not reported within 14 days of the date of loss.

Bonus-malus rules

The policy has 2 premium tiers (trin 1 and trin 2); both tiers are treated as 'elite driver' status, and no adjustment of the premium tier is made as a result of claims.
