Key conditions

Territorial scope

The policy covers Denmark (excluding Greenland and the Faroe Islands) and all countries party to the Green Card scheme, as listed on codan.dk.

Green card rules

In Green Card countries, Codan covers liability at the sums applicable in that country, but at least the sums applicable in Denmark.

Driver restrictions

Coverage extends to the policyholder and anyone using the car with permission, plus workshop staff driving it for repair, service or test purposes in the policyholder's interest; a young-driver excess applies if a driver under 26 causes damage while the policy is rated for a regular user aged 26 or over.

Claim notification deadline

All claims must be reported to Codan immediately ('straks'); theft, robbery and vandalism must also be reported immediately to the police.

Bonus-malus rules

Policyholders become 'Elitebilist' once they turn 25 and have driven claim-free for at least three years, after which the price no longer rises due to claims; certain claim types (e.g. no-fault liability claims, red-card rescue claims, claims reported via roadside assistance) do not delay reaching Elitebilist status.
