At minimum the Danish statutory limits apply; when driving abroad in Green Card countries, the higher of the host country's limits or Danish limits applies.
Property damage liability
Covered

Legal defence (Retshjælp)
Optional
Optional coverage (Retshjælp) covering legal costs in connection with certain private disputes relating to the insured vehicle. The maximum compensation amount and deductible are stated on the policy and apply per dispute. Terms for legal defence insurance are industry-standard conditions prepared by Forsikring & Pension; coverage requires engagement of a solicitor who has taken on the case. Excluded: debt collection, commercial and criminal cases.
Green Card
Covered
The policy covers in Denmark and in all countries participating in the Green Card scheme (Grøntkortordningen). A Green Card serves as proof of third-party liability insurance when driving outside Europe. It is not required within the EU, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Andorra and Serbia. When driving abroad in Green Card countries, coverage is according to the host country's legislation on compensation amounts, but at minimum the Danish statutory limits apply. The Green Card can be ordered via gjensidige.dk.
Roadside assistance (Vejhjælp)
Optional
Optional add-on (Vejhjælp) providing assistance in Denmark and Europe (excluding the Faroe Islands and Greenland) in the event of an accident or breakdown preventing continuation of travel. Services include: jump-start, tyre change and fuel delivery, door opening, windscreen coverage, towing, recovery and extraction, transport home and hotel accommodation in case of breakdown in Denmark, and theft assistance in Denmark. Average response time in Denmark: 45 minutes. No deductible. One assistance per incident/breakdown. Vehicles with a permissible gross weight over 3,500 kg are excluded. Driver accident cover (Førerdækning)
Optional
Optional add-on covering the driver of the insured vehicle for personal injury sustained in a solo accident (where no other motorised vehicle is involved) or during entry/exit of the vehicle. Covers: lost earnings, pain and suffering, permanent disability, loss of earning capacity, treatment costs (doctor, medicine, transport), funeral assistance, loss of provider, and other losses resulting from the injury. Compensation is calculated according to the Danish Liability Act (Erstatningsansvarsloven) and regulated annually. No deductible. Compensation amounts are set and annually regulated under Færdselsloven. Excluded from liability cover: injury to the driver's person (covered separately under optional Førerdækning). The liability insurance also covers passengers in a towed vehicle on an approved tow hitch.
Key conditions
territorial_scope
The policy covers in Denmark and in all countries participating in the Green Card scheme (Grøntkortordningen). When driving outside Denmark in Green Card countries, the policy covers according to the host country's legislation on compensation amounts, but at minimum with the amounts applicable to driving in Denmark. The Green Card is proof of third-party insurance when driving outside Europe. It is not required within EU borders, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Andorra and Serbia. If a separate foreign-driving insurance has been purchased, the car insurance is subsidiary. The Stilstand (parked/off-road) coverage only covers in Denmark.
green_card_rules
The Green Card (Grønt kort) is proof of third-party liability insurance when driving outside Europe. It is not necessary to carry the Green Card within EU borders, nor in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Andorra and Serbia. The Green Card can be ordered at gjensidige.dk. When driving abroad in Green Card countries, the policy covers at least the Danish statutory liability limits.
driver_restrictions
The policy does not cover damage that occurs while the vehicle is driven by a person who is under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or similar. Coverage is also excluded for damage caused intentionally, with gross negligence or by conduct that can be characterised as gross recklessness. Damage occurring while the vehicle is driven by a person without a valid driving licence is not covered, unless it can be demonstrated that the damage was not caused by lack of driving skill. An exception applies if the policyholder, their spouse/partner, home-dwelling children or regular user was not driving the vehicle and was not aware of the situation, and such unawareness was not due to gross negligence.
claim_notification_deadline
Damage or claims covered by the insurance must be reported to Gjensidige immediately (straks) with as comprehensive information and documentation as possible. Claims can be reported online via MinSide at gjensidige.dk or by calling 70 10 90 09. In the event of theft, robbery or vandalism, the incident must also be reported to the police; failure to do so may result in reduction or forfeiture of the right to compensation. Repairs must not be carried out without prior agreement with Gjensidige, except for minor repairs where it would be illegal or irresponsible to continue driving and the journey cannot be postponed.
bonus_malus_rules
The policy documentation references an elite driver (elitebilist) status classification that provides lower premiums. Drivers aged 28 or older automatically receive elite driver status from the first day of the policy without requiring a claims-free history. Premiums, sums insured and deductibles may be index-adjusted annually at the policy's main renewal date using the hourly wage index published by Danmarks Statistik (Q1 of the prior year). If the average annual mileage at the time of a driving-related claim exceeds the amount agreed in the policy, the right to compensation may lapse in whole or in part in accordance with the Danish Insurance Contracts Act. For liability claims where the driver is wholly or partially at fault, Gjensidige may exercise subrogation.
