Driver restrictions

Named drivers' claims-free years from a parent's car policy can be transferred once the child takes out their own policy with Himmerland Forsikring, which can lower the premium; a dedicated 'Ung Bil' offer exists for drivers aged 18-28 who bundle car, contents and accident insurance.

Claim notification deadline

Customers are advised to note the counterparty's details at the scene and report the claim to Himmerland as soon as possible via phone or the Mit Himmerland self-service portal/app.

Bonus-malus rules

Drivers with at least 8 claims-free years ('elitebilist') can take out the Bonusbilforsikring, where the premium keeps falling each claims-free year down to the lowest premium tier; a 'Bil Total' variant avoids a general price increase after a claim; Totalkunde (multi-policy) customers with ansvar+kasko can additionally get one claim every two years without paying the deductible (friskade) if claim-free in the prior two years.

Territorial scope

The statutory liability cover applies automatically within the EU/EEA and other Green Card countries; a Green Card can be ordered via Mit Himmerland for travel outside the EU/EEA. Kosovo, Russia, Belarus and Iran are not part of the Green Card scheme and require a border insurance purchase instead.
