IF SKADEFORSIKRING, FILIAL AF IF SKADEFÖRSÄKRING AB (PUBL), SVERIGE
If
If is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Denmark market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
If uses NemKonto for payouts of compensation and any refunds to the policyholder. For liability (Ansvar) claims, If settles directly with the injured third party rather than reimbursing the policyholder; for own-damage cover If either arranges repair or pays cash compensation to the policyholder's NemKonto.
Geographic scope
Denmark and countries party to the Green Card system
The mandatory liability (Ansvar) cover applies in Denmark and in the countries that are party to the Green Card system. The 8-consecutive-week holiday limit that applies to Delkasko/Kasko and add-ons abroad does not restrict the Ansvar cover itself.
Unique selling points
- Bundling car insurance with other policies via If Fordelsprogram can earn up to 15% discount across all household policies.

- Dissatisfied customers get a free, no-cost review of their case by If's own Kundeombud (customer ombudsman) within 12 months of the case closing.
- The optional 'Ung bilist' add-on removes the extra DKK 5,000 young-driver deductible and lets children under 25 accrue up to 5 years of no-claims bonus for their own future policy.

Can be added to a standalone Ansvar policy.
Passenger / policyholder personal injury under liability cover
Covered
Personal injury to the policyholder (when not driving) and to all passengers in the insured vehicle is compensated as part of the mandatory third-party liability cover; there is no separate passenger-accident product with its own sum insured.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
The liability (Ansvar) cover applies in Denmark and in the countries that are party to the Green Card system. The 8-consecutive-week travel limit that applies to Delkasko/Kasko and their add-ons abroad does not restrict the Ansvar cover itself.
Green card rules
The policy serves as proof of mandatory liability cover in Denmark and in all Green Card member countries; an overview of participating countries is published on if.dk.
Driver restrictions
If the driver is under 25 and the 'Ung bilist' cover has not been purchased, an extra deductible of DKK 5,000 is charged on every claim, in addition to the deductible stated in the policy; this extra deductible does not apply if the driver is the policyholder, their spouse or cohabiting partner. Cover does not apply to damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, or while the vehicle was driven by someone without a valid driving licence, unless the policyholder, their spouse/partner or regular user neither caused nor was aware of the event (and such lack of awareness was not itself due to gross negligence).
Claim notification deadline
Claims should be reported as soon as possible via if.dk or by phone on 70 12 12 12, available around the clock; incidents involving a crime (e.g. theft, vandalism) must also be reported to the police, with a copy of the report sent to If. After the policy has ended, claims may still be reported within the ordinary time-bar rules of the Danish Insurance Contracts Act.
Bonus-malus rules
The policy uses an 8-step no-claims scale (trin 1-8), where trin 1 is the most expensive and trin 8 ('elitebilist') is the cheapest. One step is gained at each claim-free annual renewal. A claim expected to cost If money keeps the policy on the same step for an additional year (two years in total on that step); certain costs (e.g. roadside assistance, legal expenses claims, claims caused by a known liable third party) do not count as claims for this purpose.
