Direct payment

The insurer advances the deductible and any VAT to the repairer/injured party directly and subsequently invoices the policyholder; repairs must be agreed with the company (and a loss adjuster called in) before being carried out, except minor repairs needed to make the vehicle roadworthy; reasonable transport costs to the nearest repairer are paid by the company.

Geographic scope

Denmark

Denmark and all countries party to the Green Card scheme (Europe and non-European Green Card countries); if separate foreign cover exists, this policy applies only subsidiarily

Unique selling points

  • The listed premium does not increase after a claim under the bonus system marketing message; only the deductible is paid by the insured for the claim itself.
  • No deductible for glass damage repairs when comprehensive (casco) cover is held.
  • Free loan car through the contracted workshop network for comprehensive (casco) claims.
  • The Red Card rescue scheme, included free with casco cover, gives roadside assistance in more countries (e.g. Greenland, Faroe Islands, Turkey) than standard roadside assistance.
  • Coverage explicitly extends to electric and hybrid vehicles.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies in Denmark and in countries party to the Green Card scheme, covering Europe and non-European Green Card countries; if another foreign policy exists, this policy applies only subsidiarily; vans/trucks over 3.5 tonnes total weight are covered abroad only by special agreement.

Green card rules

In Green Card countries, liability cover applies at the sums applicable in that country, but never less than the sums applicable in Denmark; the Green Card / red SOS service card should be carried when driving abroad.

Driver restrictions

An additional deductible of DKK 2,700 applies when the driver is under 25 years old, unless the driver is the policyholder, their spouse/cohabitant, or the vehicle is a van belonging to a VAT-registered business.

Claim notification deadline

Claims covered by the insurance must be reported to the company as soon as possible; the company may reject comprehensive (casco) claims not reported within 30 days of the date of loss; theft and robbery must be reported to the police immediately.

Bonus-malus rules

The policy uses a claims-based premium/bonus-class system: two full claim-free insurance years move the policyholder one bonus class forward (lower premium); one claim within two consecutive years keeps the same class for an extra year; more than one claim within two consecutive years moves the policyholder one class back (higher premium), with a further class back per additional claim; drivers already in the top bonus class (class 6) do not move back regardless of claims history. Certain claim types (e.g. friskade, parking damage, driver's-seat, legal-expenses claims, or claims while the vehicle was with a workshop or new owner) do not affect the bonus class.
