Popermo Forsikring G/S
Popermo
Popermo is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Denmark market with online purchase and limited assistance availability.
Direct payment
If the owner or policyholder can offset VAT as input tax for the repair of liability damage, Popermo advances the VAT by paying the amount directly to the repair shop; the owner/policyholder must then reimburse Popermo for that VAT.
Geographic scope
Denmark
Covers driving in Denmark and abroad; in Denmark with the sums set by the Road Traffic Act, abroad with the host country's sums but never less than the Danish sums. A Green Card is required outside the EU/EEA.
Unique selling points
- Roadside assistance can be added even to a liability-only motorcycle policy, not just with full casco cover.
- Riders of motorcycles over 30 years old get a 50% discount.
- Choosing a higher deductible on the casco cover can save up to 25% on the premium.
- Bundling several policies with Popermo can earn up to 15% loyalty discount (Fordelsrabat).
- The compulsory liability cover already includes psychological crisis counselling after a covered accident.
Coverage limits
Bodily injury liability
Covered
The liability insurance covers, in Denmark, with the sums laid down in the Danish Road Traffic Act; abroad it covers with the sums set by the country visited, but at least with the Danish sums. Popermo also pays imposed costs and interest on top of these sums.
Property damage liability
Covered
The liability insurance covers property damage caused to third parties, in Denmark with the sums laid down in the Road Traffic Act and abroad with at least the same Danish sums, plus imposed costs and interest.
Legal expenses cover
Optional
Legal expenses cover (Retshjælpsforsikring) is not part of the liability-only Motorcykelforsikring; it is included when the optional Kaskoforsikring is purchased, which also adds Popermo Vejhjælp and rescue abroad. Where it applies, the deductible is 10% of the total case costs, minimum DKK 2,500.
Green Card
Covered
The Green Card documents that the motorcycle is covered by liability insurance and is required when driving in certain countries outside the EU/EEA; it can be printed via the Popermo app or Min Side, or received by email.
Roadside assistance
Optional
Popermo Vejhjælp is not automatically part of the liability-only policy but can be added as an optional extra; it is automatically included once Kaskoforsikring is purchased. It covers Denmark, the E65 transit route between Malmö and Ystad, and up to 25 km south of the Danish/German border, with one assistance per breakdown/accident.
Driver accident cover
Excluded
Personal accident cover for the rider is not part of this Motorcykelforsikring; it is only available through Popermo's separate Ulykkesforsikring, which covers accidents while riding the insured's own motorcycle (or the spouse's), but excludes riders under 21.
Passenger accident cover
Excluded
Passenger accident cover is not included in this Motorcykelforsikring; Popermo's Ulykkesforsikring insures the named policyholder, spouse/cohabitant and children, not motorcycle passengers generally.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
In Denmark, the liability insurance covers with the sums set out in the Danish Road Traffic Act; abroad, it covers with the sums set by the country visited, but never less than the sums applicable in Denmark.
Green card rules
A Green Card is required when driving in certain countries outside the EU/EEA; it documents that the motorcycle has liability insurance so that traffic victims are guaranteed compensation.
Driver restrictions
The policy covers the policyholder and anyone who has the policyholder's permission to use or ride the motorcycle, as well as workshops carrying out repairs when driving in the policyholder's interest; after a sale, the new owner remains covered for three weeks unless covered by their own policy.
Claim notification deadline
Claims must be reported as soon as possible; no fixed number of days is specified, but you must notify Popermo even if the at-fault party is known, since Popermo needs to assess the claim and deal with the counterparty's insurer.
Bonus-malus rules
If you report a claim and there is no liable third party, it is treated as a 'burdensome' claim affecting your claims history/bonus, unless the policy terms state otherwise.
Where to buy
Policy specifics
Seasonal driving coverage (stand-still period)
By default, the Motorcykelforsikring only covers driving damage from 1 March to 30 November; from 1 December to the following 1 March the motorcycle is only covered as stationary (stilstandsforsikret), unless a winter-driving extension is purchased for a 20% premium surcharge.
SourceRecourse (regres) against at-fault party
Popermo has a right of recourse against anyone responsible for a claim caused with intent or gross negligence, per section 104 of the Danish Road Traffic Act; recourse is mandatory if the motorcycle was rented out without a driver in breach of the Ministry of Justice's regulations, unless the policyholder can prove otherwise.
