First Marine A/S (trading as FIRST.)
First
First is a travel insurance for the Denmark market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
SOS International provides on-the-spot assistance and can fully or partially settle a covered claim during the holiday trip; cash payouts are capped at DKK 2,500 for theft of cash, passports, tickets etc. and DKK 5,000 for loss of or damage to baggage, subject to final adjustment once you are back home.
Geographic scope
Europe or Worldwide (excluding Denmark), as selected and stated on the policy
The coverage area is stated on the policy. If Europe is chosen, coverage applies to the same geographic area as the Danish public health insurance at the time of the claim (e.g. EU/EEA countries, UK, Switzerland). If World is chosen, coverage applies worldwide except Denmark. The insurance never covers travel within Denmark.

Covers doctor treatment, medically ordered hospital stay, medically prescribed medicine, ambulance and taxi transport (max DKK 500) to/from treatment. In Europe this is covered under the public health insurance; in World cover it falls under the DKK 5,000,000 Sygdom limit.
Hospitalization
Covered
Medically ordered hospital stay at normal rates is covered within the Sygdom (illness) benefit; extra costs such as phone calls, transport and reading material up to DKK 500 are covered if admission lasts at least 24 hours.

Physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment is covered up to DKK 10,000 per person per trip, in both Europe and World cover.

Medical repatriation transport (Hjemtransport)
DKK 500,000 – DKK 1,000,000
Reasonable and necessary costs of transport home to Denmark due to acute illness, injury or death occurring on the trip, approved and arranged by SOS International. Europe cover: DKK 500,000 (death costs covered by public health insurance); World cover: DKK 1,000,000.
Evacuation
DKK 100,000 – DKK 200,000
Reasonable extra costs for evacuation or return home from an area with imminent risk of war, war-like conditions, terrorism, natural disaster, revolt or civil unrest, provided evacuation is recommended by Danish authorities. Europe: DKK 100,000; World: DKK 200,000.
Repatriation of remains
DKK 1,000,000
In case of death on the trip, costs are covered by the Danish public health insurance under Europe cover; under World cover, death-related transport falls within the DKK 1,000,000 Hjemtransport limit.
Search and rescue
DKK 100,000
Necessary search and rescue costs up to DKK 100,000 per person per trip, subsidiary to assistance normally provided by local authorities; SOS International arranges the search and coordinates with authorities.
COVID-19 treatment
No limit stated
No specific COVID-19 provision is stated in the policy terms; it is not mentioned as either a distinct benefit or an exclusion.
Pre-existing conditions
Conditional
Treatment needs known before the trip are excluded. For chronic/existing conditions, coverage is excluded if within the last two months before departure the condition led to hospitalization, changed medication, non-routine medical assessment, refusal of treatment, being on a waiting list, or missed check-ups. SOS International can give a binding pre-assessment on request, based on medical documentation submitted before the trip.
Winter/ski sports cover
DKK 50,000 – DKK 100,000
Claims arising from ski sports are not covered by the base policy unless Ski Travel Insurance is purchased as an add-on. The add-on covers a replacement trip (DKK 60,000 Europe / DKK 100,000 World) and ruined holiday days (DKK 50,000, both areas); Extended Ski Travel Insurance additionally covers piste closures, avalanche/snowslide delays and ski rental.
Adventure/extreme sports cover
Excluded
The policy excludes claims arising from expeditions, mountaineering, bungee jumping, parachuting, gliding, parasailing, paragliding, scuba/frogman diving, motor racing, cycle or horse racing, boxing, karate and other martial arts, other dangerous sports, and professional sport.
Pregnancy complications
Conditional
Acute illness/complications related to pregnancy are covered as ordinary acute illness, but childbirth or illness caused by pregnancy is excluded if the treatment time is less than one month before the expected delivery date; treatment of an unborn or premature baby is covered if within one month of the expected delivery date.
Liability for damage to holiday accommodation
DKK 2,000,000
In addition to the home-contents insurance liability cover, liability for damage to rented holiday accommodation and contents therein is covered up to DKK 2,000,000, subject to a DKK 1,500 deductible. This is not a general personal liability cover for third-party injury/property claims outside the holiday accommodation.
Legal assistance
DKK 15,000
Legal assistance itself is covered under the home-contents insurance; this travel policy additionally covers necessary travel expenses if your presence abroad is required, up to DKK 1,500 per day and DKK 15,000 in total (economy-class flights, accommodation and subsistence). Separately, bail/security in legal disputes abroad is covered up to DKK 100,000 per claim.
24/7 emergency assistance
Covered
SOS International is reachable around the clock by phone, fax and e-mail for emergency assistance, medical coordination and claims handling during the trip.
Key conditions
Assistance call deadline
SOS International must always be contacted as soon as possible in the event of illness, injury or death requiring hospitalization, repatriation, callout, recall or medical escort, to agree on next steps and arrange payment of medical treatment.
Unauthorized treatment
Repatriation must be approved and arranged by SOS International; costs for continued treatment or stay abroad are not covered once SOS International's doctor has decided and approved that repatriation can take place, or if the insured does not return home despite an approved repatriation.
Purchase while abroad
The travel insurance only covers if it was purchased before the trip began; it cannot be taken out or extended once travel has started.
Chronic conditions
Special rules apply to persons with chronic/existing conditions: coverage is excluded if, within the last two months before departure, the condition led to hospitalization, non-routine medical assessment, changed medication, refusal or abandonment of treatment, being placed on a waiting list, or missed check-ups.
Pregnancy
Childbirth or illness caused by pregnancy is not covered if the treatment time is less than one month before the expected delivery date; treatment of an unborn or premature baby is covered within that same one-month window.
Pre-existing condition exclusions
A treatment need that was known before the trip is not covered. In case of doubt about chronic-condition claims, SOS International can give a binding pre-assessment based on medical records submitted in good time before departure.
Coverage duration limit
The annual policy only covers private holiday trips of up to one month's duration, regardless of when during the year the trip takes place.
