Covered

Requires the person to have been missing for more than 24 hours and a police report.
COVID-19 treatment
No limit stated
Neither the terms and conditions nor the IPID make any specific mention of COVID-19 treatment coverage.
Pre-existing / chronic conditions
Conditional
Acute worsening of an existing chronic condition is only covered if the condition has been in a stable, good phase for the 2 months before departure, with no hospital contact, treatment changes, referrals, or unfulfilled treatment during that period. Otherwise treatment of pre-existing/chronic illness is excluded and a medical pre-assessment is recommended before travel.
Winter sports cover
Optional
Injuries sustained during winter sports (e.g. skiing, snowboarding, sledding, skating) are excluded unless the optional Vintersport rider has been purchased and appears on the policy; when selected, the rider extends the individual covers under the policy to winter sports incidents.
Dangerous sports cover
Conditional
Only in Rejse Super
Participation in 'dangerous sports' (e.g. boxing, karate, bungee jumping, paragliding, parasailing, hang-gliding, parachuting, jetski, kitesurfing, scuba diving, motor racing, triathlon) is excluded under Rejse and Rejse Plus, but is included as a base feature of the Rejse Super tier (not a paid add-on). Mountaineering, expeditions and professional sport remain excluded under all tiers.
Pregnancy and childbirth complications
Covered
Covers treatment related to pregnancy and childbirth resulting from acute illness or injury; also covers pregnancy/childbirth treatment not due to acute illness up to 1 month before the expected due date, and treatment of a premature baby born more than 1 month early.
Liability for damage to rented holiday accommodation
DKK 3,000,000
Covers legal liability as a private person for damage to fixtures/parts of a rented holiday home, up to 3,000,000 DKK (not indexed) in total per claim — this is the maximum If's liability regardless of how many insured persons are held liable. This is not a general third-party/personal liability cover; damage caused by motor vehicles, animals, or work-related activities is excluded.
Security/bail for legal disputes
DKK 150,000
In a private legal dispute abroad, If provides security of up to 150,000 DKK (not indexed) per dispute to cover lawyer's fees, claims raised by local authorities, or bail to release the insured or their belongings if detained by local authorities. The security is treated as an interest-free loan that must be repaid to If as soon as the funds are released by the authorities. Excludes business, employment, contractual matters and criminal cases other than traffic offences.
24/7 travel assistance
Covered
If's travel help stands ready to assist around the clock, wherever in the world you are, including help finding the best hospital and arranging repatriation to Denmark; international assistance and claims service is provided directly at the destination.
Key conditions
Assistance call deadline
The policy requires you to notify If as soon as possible after any covered claim occurs, via if.dk/anmeldskade or by phone; no specific number-of-hours deadline is stated, but emergency assistance is available 24/7.
Unauthorized treatment
If you refuse to be transported home once If's doctor has decided this is necessary and the treating doctor has approved it, or you continue treatment abroad after If's doctor has decided treatment can wait until you return to Denmark (with the treating doctor's approval), further treatment and stay costs are not covered.
Purchase while abroad
It is a requirement that the travel insurance is purchased before you depart on the trip and that you can document the number of travel days; the policy does not cover trips already underway when purchased.
Chronic conditions
Chronic conditions are only covered for an acute worsening if the condition has been stable for 2 months prior to departure without hospital contact, treatment changes, referrals or missed treatment; a binding medical pre-assessment can be requested before travelling.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy/childbirth treatment due to acute illness or injury is covered; non-acute pregnancy/childbirth care is covered up to 1 month before the due date, and a premature baby is covered if born more than 1 month early. Trip cancellation due to pregnancy complications is covered under Rejse Plus/Rejse Super if a doctor advises against travelling.
Pre-existing condition exclusions
Treatment of a condition you knew about before departing from Denmark is not covered; you risk paying the full cost yourself if you travel without a medical pre-assessment of an existing, treatment-requiring illness or injury.
Coverage duration limit
Rejse and Rejse Plus cover trips up to 30 days; Rejse Super covers trips up to 60 days. If a covered illness or injury delays your return beyond this period, cover is automatically extended until you are back in Denmark.
