Direct payment

PZU pays the indemnity either to the insured person or directly to the company that provided the service (e.g. a medical institution); hospitalization and medical equipment costs must be pre-agreed with PZU

Geographic scope

Territory as marked on the policy, agreed between policyholder and insurer at contract signing

Coverage is not valid in Estonia or in the insured person's country of permanent residence, except for trip-cancellation or delayed-departure events that occurred in Estonia

Unique selling points

  • 24/7 customer support hotline for arranging emergency medical treatment abroad, so travellers always have somewhere to turn even if unsure which facility to contact
  • Fully modular policy design lets customers pick and pay only for the covers they need: medical assistance, trip disruption, baggage, liability, and rental-car excess
  • Legal defence costs under the liability cover are reimbursed with no deductible applied, unlike many other claim types
  • Optional rental car excess (deductible) cover is available for cars rented abroad, protecting travellers from unexpected out-of-pocket costs after an accident
  • Backed by the international PZU Group, one of the largest insurance groups in Central and Eastern Europe

Unauthorized treatment

PZU may reduce or refuse the indemnity if the insured or policyholder failed to comply with a contractual obligation (e.g. obtaining prior approval for hospitalization or transport) and the breach affected the occurrence or extent of the loss

Purchase while abroad

No indemnity is paid if the insurance contract was concluded, or the trip was purchased/booked, after the circumstance that caused the loss had already arisen

Pregnancy

Unexpected pregnancy complications arising before the 28th week are covered up to 5,000 euros; costs after week 28 and those related to childbirth, abortion or artificial insemination are excluded

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Costs related to an illness or injury that began before the start of the trip are not covered, with the exception of first-aid costs for a sudden, unforeseeable exacerbation of a chronic disease

Coverage duration limit

For multi-trip (annual) policies, cover applies to an unlimited number of trips during the insurance period, but each individual trip may not exceed the number of days marked on the policy; cover does not apply for days exceeding that limit
