Driver age experience limit | No minimum age or experience requirement is specified in the General Conditions for coverage to apply to the principal driver. However, an 'Autres Conducteurs' (other drivers) additional deductible applies when the vehicle is driven by someone other than the principal driver declared in the contract or their spouse/partner. This additional deductible can be waived (rachetée) for certain drivers per the Specific Conditions. Drivers under 25 years designated in the contract benefit from the 'Joker' service (up to 5 taxi journeys per year within 50 km of home if unable to drive). A new-driver surcharge (surprime jeune conducteur) per Article A 121-1-1 of the Insurance Code may be applied. Coverage is excluded when the driver does not hold a valid driving licence of the required category. | No minimum driver age or minimum driving experience is specified as a general exclusion in the Tous Risques Intégral formula. However, drivers who do not hold a valid licence required for the vehicle class are excluded. Young drivers (under 31 years old with less than 2 years of licence) may be subject to a first-year surcharge. Secondary drivers using the vehicle regularly must be declared to the insurer. | Young drivers (licence held less than 3 years, never previously insured in their own name, or having retaken their licence after cancellation) are subject to a surcharge of 100% in year 1, 50% in year 2 and 25% in year 3. This surcharge is halved if a parent of the novice driver is already a La Banque Postale customer. Undeclared drivers who have held a licence for more than 3 years are subject to a supplementary excess of EUR 300; those with less than 3 years' experience face a EUR 1,500 supplementary excess and are not covered by the 'Protection Corporelle Plus' option. | No minimum age or experience condition is explicitly stated in the general conditions for the casco coverage itself. However, a special surcharge (surprime) may be applied for drivers with a licence of less than 3 years or those who cannot prove continuous insurance over the last 3 years. Accompanied driving (AAC) and supervised driving are covered under specific conditions if pre-declared to MAAF. Novice drivers not designated in the Conditions Particulières incur a special deductible (franchise spéciale) in case of a responsible claim. |
Repair network requirements | The insured has the right to choose any professional repairer (Article L.211-5-1 of the Insurance Code). However, using an AXA partner garage provides additional benefits: no advance of costs beyond the deductible; a loan vehicle during repairs (subject to availability); a repair warranty of up to 5 years; and degressive deductible reductions (20% after 2 years without a claim, up to 50% after 8 years without a claim). Repairs must not commence before the claim is declared to AXA and AXA's agreement is obtained. | No obligation to use a specific repair network. However, if the insured chooses to use Pacifica's approved Assercar network, Pacifica settles repair costs directly with the garage, and repairs come with a lifetime guarantee. Outside the network, indemnity is paid to the insured after assessment. | No advance payment is required for repairs carried out within the approved garage network ('réseau de garages agréés'). Repairs outside the network are subject to normal indemnification procedures. Claim management for material damage is delegated to CELLINKS. | The policyholder has free choice of professional repairer. MAAF maintains a list of approved repairers; when using an approved repairer, MAAF pays the indemnity directly (no advance required, deductible still applies). For glass damage, approved glass specialists handle the claim declaration. MAAF must be notified before repairs commence; unauthorised repairs may result in denial of cover if MAAF is prejudiced. Repairs must be carried out by a professional automotive repairer. |
Territorial scope | For all non-RC guarantees (own damage, glass, theft, assistance, etc.): coverage applies in metropolitan France, DROM-COM, Monaco, and for stays not exceeding 6 consecutive months in multilateral agreement signatory countries (list current as of 1 January 2024) and non-signatory countries with international insurance certificate. The 6-month limit does not apply to students residing abroad solely to study. For natural disasters, technological disasters and terrorist acts: metropolitan France and DROM only. For liability (RC): metropolitan France, DROM-COM, and all multilateral agreement signatory and non-signatory countries (with certificate). | Coverage applies in metropolitan France, French overseas departments and regions (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane, La Réunion, Mayotte). For displacements of less than 3 months: all EU member states, Vatican, San Marino, Monaco, Liechtenstein, and other states not crossed off on the international insurance card (carte verte). For displacements over 3 months within the EU: third-party liability (RC) only. Natural and technological disaster guarantees apply exclusively in metropolitan France and DROM. | Coverage applies in metropolitan France and the French overseas departments (Réunion, Mayotte, Martinique). Roadside assistance also applies abroad. In the event of a claim abroad, assistance may also cover medical and hospitalisation costs. | Coverage applies in France (metropolitan and DOM), EU/EEA member states, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Vatican, San Marino, and countries listed and not crossed out on the valid international insurance card (carte verte). Coverage also applies when the vehicle is transported by air or sea between two covered countries. Natural disaster and terrorism guarantees apply exclusively in metropolitan France and the DOM. |
Anti theft requirements | The insured must take elementary precautions to not facilitate theft: close windows, activate protection and alarm devices, lock all doors including the boot before moving away from the vehicle, never leave keys or electronic start cards in the vehicle, and never leave the registration certificate (carte grise) in the vehicle. Indemnification is limited to 70% of damages if keys or electronic start cards were inside or on the vehicle at time of theft (except if theft occurred after break-in of residence or private garage, or assault). A further 70% limitation applies if a required GPS geolocation system (as specified in Specific Conditions) is absent or non-functional on the day of the loss, or if the garage location does not comply with requirements in the Specific Conditions. | The vehicle must have all access points (doors, sunroof, boot) locked and windows closed whenever the vehicle is left unattended. If the vehicle contains professional goods, it must be garaged in a fully covered, enclosed and locked garage overnight. Failure to comply with these prevention measures results in the claim being declined for theft. If the vehicle is equipped with a declared NEXECUR remote-monitoring system that is armed and operational, the theft deductible is waived. | Theft coverage requires evidence of forced entry into a closed vehicle. Theft of the vehicle when left open or with keys available is not covered. Theft of separately insured wheels and tyres is covered up to EUR 1,500 provided they are fitted with anti-theft wheel nuts. A police report is mandatory. Indemnity may be reduced by 50% if required documents (e.g. original key duplicates) are not produced. Installation of approved security equipment (alarm, geolocation, window etching, reinforced locking) is recommended. | The theft guarantee (Garantie Vol) requires mechanical or electronic break-in of the vehicle, its steering/ignition systems, the garage, or violence against the driver/guardian. The vehicle must be locked (doors, boot, windows closed). Theft is not covered if the keys are left on/in/under the vehicle, if doors are unlocked, or if there is no break-in evidence. A police report (certificat de dépôt de plainte) is mandatory to trigger the guarantee. No specific anti-theft device requirement is mentioned in the general conditions. |
Claim notification deadline | Glass damage: 5 working days. Traffic accidents: 5 working days (complete and sign the European accident report). Theft, attempted theft or vandalism: file a police complaint within 24 hours and submit the receipt; declare to AXA within 2 working days. Natural disasters: 30 days following publication of the interministerial decree. All other claims: 5 working days. Failure to meet these deadlines may result in a coverage forfeiture (déchéance) if AXA can demonstrate that the delay caused it prejudice. Damage to the vehicle must be declared BEFORE any repair or replacement work begins. | Claims must be reported as soon as the insured becomes aware of the loss and at the latest within: 5 working days for all guarantees except theft/vandalism and natural disasters; 2 working days for theft and vandalism (a police or gendarmerie report must also be filed); 10 working days following publication of the interministerial decree for natural disaster claims. Failure to comply may result in reduction of the indemnity proportional to the prejudice caused to Pacifica. | Claims must be declared as promptly as possible. A 30-day calendar period is granted from contract inception to submit required supporting documents. Annual renewal occurs by tacit reconduction; cancellation must be notified by registered letter at least 2 months before the annual expiry date (Loi Chatel). After the first year, the policyholder may cancel at any time with one month's notice (Loi Hamon). | Claims must be declared as soon as known and at the latest: 2 working days for theft; 30 days after publication of the interministerial decree for natural disasters; 5 working days for all other cases. Failure to meet these deadlines (unless due to force majeure) may result in denial of cover (déchéance) if the delay caused prejudice to MAAF. For legal defence (défense juridique), claims must be declared in writing within 2 months of the refusal or notification of infringement. |
Deductible rules | Deductible amounts (franchise) are specified in the Specific Conditions and vary by formula and guarantee. Three types exist: (1) Fixed (forfaitaire): expressed in euros. When partially at fault with an identified third party, the deductible is halved. When a non-responsible event occurs without an identified third party, the full deductible applies. (2) Proportional: a fixed part (€) plus a variable percentage of repair costs, with a maximum cap. (3) Statutory (légale): for natural disasters, fixed at €380 per vehicle per event regardless of insurer. A degressive deductible reduction applies to Dommages tous accidents, Fire, Theft, Climatic Events and Terrorist Acts guarantees: after 2 years without a claim, 20% reduction at AXA partner garage (10% elsewhere); after 4 years, 30% (20%); after 6 years, 40% (30%); after 8 years, 50% (40%). Degressive reduction does not apply to 'Autres Conducteurs', 'dépassement kilométrique' and 'RC fonctionnement' deductibles. An additional 'Autres Conducteurs' deductible applies when a driver other than the principal driver or their spouse causes a claim (can be waived per Specific Conditions). A mileage overrun deductible of €250 + €0.25 per km exceeded applies if declared annual km limit is exceeded at time of claim. | A deductible (franchise) applies per claim; the exact amount is specified in the confirmation of adhesion and varies by vehicle type, value and guarantee: typically EUR 200 to EUR 750 for storm, hail, snow, fire, theft, vandalism and accidental damage. No deductible applies on glass breakage (bris de glace) or on the vehicle content guarantee in the Tous Risques Intégral formula. The statutory deductible for natural disaster claims is fixed by law and cannot be waived or bought back. After 3 consecutive full years (anniversary to anniversary) without any claim and without any payment incident, the deductible is waived on the first at-fault covered claim (Cadeau de franchise) — this benefit does not apply to the natural disaster statutory deductible. The deductible can also be eliminated entirely via the optional Rachat de franchise rider (excluding statutory deductibles). | Three options: (1) zero-deductible contract (reserved for non-novice drivers, applicable to all-accident damage, theft, fire/terrorism, and climate event guarantees); (2) contract with deductible at two progressive levels selectable at underwriting; (3) deductible waiver bonus: after 3 consecutive claim-free years, the policyholder pays no damage deductible on the first covered claim. Statutory franchise for natural disasters: EUR 380 (general) or EUR 1,520 (drought). Glass deductible applies separately and is not waived by the bonus franchise. Supplementary deductibles apply for undeclared drivers. | A deductible (franchise) applies for each claim involving: vehicle damage (Dommages au véhicule assuré), windscreen (Bris de pare-brise – applies on both repair and replacement), glass breakage (Bris de glaces – NOT applied for windscreen repair only, applies on replacement), third-party liability (special deductible for undeclared novice drivers in Tiers Essentiel/Essentiel+/Tous risques Confort/Confort+/Leasing formulas, or for any undeclared driver in Tiers Eco/Tous risques Eco), mechanical breakdown, and bicycle damage. Deductible amounts are set in the Conditions Particulières and vary by formula (standard formulas: approx. 250–500 EUR; Eco formulas: approx. 500–900 EUR for damages). When multiple guarantees are triggered by a single claim, each applicable deductible is retained. If the responsible third party is uninsured and insolvent, MAAF reimburses the damage deductible. |

Direct payment policy | When the insured vehicle is repaired at an AXA partner garage, AXA pays the repairer directly and the insured pays only the applicable deductible. No upfront payment required beyond the deductible. For glass damage, AXA partner centres handle immediate direct payment with no advance of costs required. Indemnity payments are made within 30 days following amicable agreement or court decision. | Pacifica settles repair costs directly with approved garages in its Assercar network when the insured opts for network repair. For other cases, indemnity is paid within 2 days following the amicable agreement or judicial decision. For natural disaster claims, payment is made within 3 months of the interministerial decree or submission of the damage estimate. The deductible always remains the insured's responsibility. | No advance payment required for repairs in the approved garage network; the insurer pays the repair shop directly. | If the policyholder uses a MAAF-approved repairer or glass specialist, MAAF pays the repairer directly with no advance required from the insured (deductible still applies). For other repairers, the insured must provide an original paid invoice to receive reimbursement. |
