Direct payment

ADAC organizes repairs through its network of partner workshops and settles repair costs directly with the workshop under the Werkstattbonus module; policyholders who choose a non-partner workshop without prior contact receive only 80% reimbursement of the required repair costs.

Geographic scope

Europe (including the European part of Turkey), the Asian part of Turkey, and non-European territories of the EU

Coverage applies within the geographic borders of Europe, the Asian part of Turkey, and non-European territories belonging to the European Union.

Unique selling points

  • New-price indemnity extends up to 36 months after first registration in the Premium tier, well beyond the 12-month period typical of Basis-level cover.
  • Eigenschäden coverage reimburses damage to the policyholder's own other vehicles or property up to EUR 200,000 per year in Premium (EUR 100,000 in Komfort), a benefit many competitors do not include.
  • Follow-on damage from animal bites and short circuits is covered without a monetary limit in Komfort and Premium, compared with a EUR 20,000 cap in Basis.
  • Built-in GAP-style Differenzkasko coverage closes the gap between insurance payout and outstanding leasing or financing obligations at no separate charge.
  • ADAC waives the objection of gross negligence in comprehensive and partial cover and guarantees partner-workshop repairs for at least six years under the Werkstattbonus module.

Coverage limits

Own Damage Coverage (Kasko)

Covered

Compensation for damage, destruction, total loss or loss of the insured vehicle is capped at the vehicle's new price (Neupreis); settlement is based on replacement value minus residual value, or on repair costs up to replacement value, across all three tiers (Basis, Komfort, Premium).

Total Loss / New-Price Indemnity

Covered

If total loss or theft occurs shortly after first registration, ADAC pays the new price instead of replacement value: within 12 months in Basis, 24 months in Komfort, and 36 months in Premium (extendable by a further 24 months via the optional Werterhaltgarantie add-on). Used vehicles purchased second-hand receive an equivalent purchase-price indemnity on the same 12/24/36-month schedule. An additional EUR 2,500 e-car switch bonus is paid on top of the new-price indemnity if the replacement vehicle is a fully electric car.

Partial Damage / Repair Cost Coverage

Covered

Repair costs are reimbursed up to the replacement value of the vehicle; if the vehicle is not, or not fully, repaired, compensation is capped at replacement value minus residual value. An agreed deductible applies per claim, subject to the waivers described in the deductible rules.

Theft and Robbery

Covered

Covers theft, robbery, surrender under extortion, unauthorized use by persons with no entitlement, and vandalism damage inflicted during a completed or attempted theft; also reimburses the cost of replacing door/steering locks or recoding if vehicle keys are robbed or stolen, provided the incident is reported to the police.

Glass Breakage

Covered

Breakage damage to glazing (windscreens, side/rear/roof windows, mirror glass, light covers) is covered; consequential damage is excluded. In Basis, repairs done outside ADAC's designated glass partner are reimbursed at only 80% of cost; where repair is done without a full pane replacement at a chosen partner workshop, the deductible is waived.

Natural Hazards (Elementary Damage)

Covered

Covers direct impact of storm (wind force 7 or higher), hail, flooding, subsidence, landslide, snow pressure/breakage, avalanche (incl. roof avalanche), mudslide, volcanic eruption and earthquake, including objects thrown against the vehicle by these forces.

Source

Vandalism (Malicious Acts)

Conditional

Included only under fully comprehensive cover (Vollkasko), not under partial cover (Teilkasko): malicious acts by persons with no entitlement to use the vehicle, including hacking attacks directed unmittelbar against the vehicle itself.

Source

Towing After Damage

Covered

Towing costs from the scene of damage to the nearest suitable repair workshop are covered after damage or total loss; under the Werkstattbonus module, ADAC additionally organizes and pays for transport of the vehicle to and from the chosen partner workshop.

Source

Replacement Vehicle During Repair

€7

If the vehicle is repaired at a workshop chosen by ADAC (Werkstattbonus), a smallest-category replacement car is provided for up to 7 days during the repair; this benefit does not apply to glass-only (windscreen) claims.

Driver Accident Protection (Fahrerschutz)

€15,000,000

Only in Komfort, Premium

Optional add-on module (available with Komfort and Premium, not part of Basis) covering personal injury or death of the authorized driver resulting from an accident while steering the vehicle, up to EUR 15 million per event, treated as though a third party were liable.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

No general minimum driver age applies to casco cover itself; however, the optional 'Begleitetes Fahren ab 17' premium discount requires the young driver to hold a valid supervised-driving certificate (from age 17) or a regular licence (from age 18), and the benefit ends once the driver turns 24.

Repair network requirements

Under the Werkstattbonus module, ADAC selects the repair workshop; if the policyholder has the vehicle repaired outside this network without prior contact with ADAC, reimbursement is limited to 80% of the required repair costs.

Territorial scope

Coverage applies within the geographic borders of Europe (including the European part of Turkey), the Asian part of Turkey, and non-European territories of the European Union.

Anti-theft requirements

No specific anti-theft device is mandated by the terms; however, in the event of key robbery or theft, the policyholder must report the incident to the police in order to receive reimbursement for lock replacement or recoding.

Claim notification deadline

Claims must generally be reported within one week; theft of the vehicle, its parts or accessories must instead be reported immediately in text form, and damage from theft, fire or malicious acts exceeding EUR 1,000 must be reported to the police without delay.

Deductible rules

An agreed deductible is deducted per insured vehicle and per claim event; no deductible is deducted for glass repairs carried out without a full pane replacement at a partner workshop, and none applies where only the Differenzkasko/GAP benefit is claimed.
