Direct payment

AXA reimburses the policyholder for repair costs on proof of invoice; if the vehicle is not fully or properly repaired, AXA pays only the cost of a full repair up to the replacement value less any residual value, rather than settling directly with a garage.

Geographic scope

Geographic Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the EU

Cover applies within the geographic boundaries of Europe and the non-European territories that are part of the European Union.

Unique selling points

  • AXA's comprehensive casco (Vollkasko) offers up to 24 months of new-value compensation for new vehicles, well beyond typical basic cover periods.
  • Vollkasko automatically bundles in every Teilkasko benefit, giving policyholders seamless, gap-free protection in a single upgrade.
  • Unlike liability and Vollkasko, AXA's Teilkasko premium is unaffected by the no-claims class, so claims for glass, theft or animal collision never trigger a rate increase.
  • AXA's motor insurance provides up to 100 million EUR in combined coverage for property and personal injury claims.

Coverage limits

Own vehicle damage cover

Covered

The insured vehicle is covered against damage, destruction, total loss or loss resulting from an event under Teilkasko (A.2.2.1) or Vollkasko (A.2.2.2).

Total loss / destruction / loss settlement

Covered

In the event of total loss, destruction or loss, AXA pays the replacement value (Wiederbeschaffungswert) less any residual value; maximum compensation is capped at the new price (Neupreis) of the vehicle.

Repair cost (partial damage) settlement

Covered

If the vehicle is damaged, AXA pays the costs required for a full and proper repair up to the replacement value, evidenced by invoice; without an invoice or if repair is incomplete, payment is capped at replacement value less residual value, with a 'new for old' deduction on replaced parts.

Theft and robbery cover

Covered

Covers theft, robbery and surrender of the vehicle due to robbery-related extortion; embezzlement and unauthorised use are covered only under specified conditions (e.g. not by persons entrusted with the vehicle or closely related to the policyholder).

SourceSource no longer reachable

Glass breakage cover

Covered

Breakage damage to the vehicle's glazing (windscreen, rear, side and partition windows, mirror glass, light covers) is covered; consequential damage is excluded, and instructions must be obtained before repair if a driver-assistance system needs recalibration.

Natural hazards cover

Covered

Covers direct impact of storm (wind force 8+), avalanche, hail, lightning strike or flood on the vehicle, including objects thrown onto/against the vehicle by these forces.

Vandalism (malicious acts) cover

Conditional

Only in Vollkasko

Malicious or wanton acts by persons who have no right whatsoever to use the vehicle are covered, but only under the Vollkasko (comprehensive) cover, not under Teilkasko.

Towing cost cover (limited)

Covered

If the vehicle is damaged, AXA reimburses towing costs from the scene of the damage to the nearest workshop suitable for the repair, provided this does not exceed the overall repair cost cap. This is limited to towing after a covered damage event; it is not a general 24/7 breakdown/roadside assistance service (Schutzbrief).

Replacement/rental vehicle cover

Excluded

AXA does not reimburse loss of use, or the cost of a rental vehicle, as these are explicitly listed as consequential losses that are not compensated under this product.

Motor accident (occupant) insurance

Optional

Occupant accident cover (invalidity, hospital daily allowance, death benefit) is a legally separate insurance type (A.3) that must be separately agreed; it is not automatically bundled with Kasko cover, and sums insured are shown in the Versicherungsschein.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The AKB Kraftfahrt standard does not set a minimum driver age or experience requirement for Kasko eligibility; a discount adjustment is available on request once the policyholder has held a licence for 3 claim-free years (I.2.4).

Repair network requirements

Before disposal or repair of the vehicle, the policyholder must obtain AXA's instructions where circumstances allow and follow them as far as reasonable; the base Kraftfahrt standard document does not mandate use of a fixed partner repair network.

Territorial scope

Cover in Kasko applies within the geographic boundaries of Europe and the non-European territories that belong to the European Union.

Anti-theft requirements

No specific anti-theft device (e.g. alarm, immobiliser) is mandated as a precondition for cover in this document; a specific rule applies only to stolen vehicle keys taken by burglary or robbery.

Claim notification deadline

Claims must generally be reported within one week; theft and glass-breakage claims must be reported immediately (unverzüglich); theft, fire or animal-collision damage exceeding 500 EUR must also be reported to the police without delay.

Deductible rules

Any agreed deductible is deducted from the compensation for each claim event as stated in the Versicherungsschein; an extra 500 EUR deductible applies to Teilkasko/Vollkasko claims for goods-transport vehicles occurring outside the declared operating area; no deductible is charged if a chipped windscreen is repaired rather than replaced.
