Direct payment

Under the optional 'Kasko-Mobil' workshop tie-in, DEVK settles repair costs directly with its partner workshops rather than reimbursing the policyholder; using a non-partner workshop when Kasko-Mobil is agreed reduces the payout by the deductible plus 15% of the calculated repair cost (minimum €300) (A.3.4.1).

Geographic scope

Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the European Union

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories that form part of the European Union (A.3.18).

Unique selling points

  • €1,500 sustainability bonus (Nachhaltigkeitsprämie) paid on top of the normal settlement when a total-loss combustion vehicle is replaced with a fully electric car insured with DEVK (A.3.6.5).
  • All-risk cover for the EV/hybrid battery, including operator-error damage, up to €20,000 in Komfort and unlimited in Premium (A.3.3.6) — broader than the exclusions typical minimum motor policies apply to batteries.
  • Battery extinguishing and disposal costs each covered up to €10,000 under Premium (A.3.5.2, A.3.5.3), addressing EV-fire risks many standard casco policies leave uncapped or excluded.
  • No deductible on glass repairs carried out by a DEVK Autoglaspartner, in every tier including the entry-level Basis-Schutz (A.3.2.6).
  • New-price compensation (Neupreisentschädigung) extended to 36 months from first registration under Premium, twice the 18-month window offered under Komfort (A.3.7.3).

Coverage limits

Own damage cover (accident/collision, regardless of fault)

Covered

Vollkasko covers damage to the insured vehicle caused by an accident (a sudden, externally-caused event acting on the vehicle with mechanical force), including self-caused collisions. Included in Basis, Komfort and Premium; Komfort/Premium additionally cover tow/trailer shunting damage and tyre-burst follow-on costs, which Basis excludes (A.3.3.2).

Source

Total loss, destruction or theft settlement

Covered

On total loss, destruction or loss of the vehicle, DEVK pays the Wiederbeschaffungswert (replacement value) less any residual value. New-price compensation (Neupreisentschädigung) instead of time value applies within 18 months of first registration under Komfort and 36 months under Premium; Basis has no new-price compensation (A.3.7.1, A.3.7.3).

Source

Partial damage / repair cost cover

Covered

Repair costs are reimbursed up to the vehicle's Wiederbeschaffungswert (replacement value) against invoice; without an invoice, costs are calculated using regional average labour rates. New-price compensation on repair applies if repair costs reach or exceed 80% of the new price (A.3.9, A.3.9.3).

Source

Theft, robbery and unauthorised use

Covered

Covers theft, robbery, extortion-induced surrender of the vehicle and, under conditions, misappropriation and unauthorised use, as part of Teilkasko, included in Basis, Komfort and Premium (A.3.2.2). A police report is required without delay if the loss exceeds €1,000 (B.4.4.3).

Glass breakage

Covered

Breakage of windscreen, windows, mirror glass and light covers is covered in Basis, Komfort and Premium; consequential damage is excluded. Repairs (not replacement) via a DEVK Autoglaspartner are reimbursed without deducting the excess; in Premium, a windscreen replacement via a DEVK partner additionally reduces the agreed excess by €75 (A.3.2.6).

Source

Natural hazards, animal bite and short-circuit damage

Covered

Storm, hail, flood, earthquake, landslide, subsidence and volcanic eruption are covered under Komfort and Premium, including roof avalanches; Basis covers only snow avalanches, not roof avalanches (A.3.2.3). Animal-bite damage to cables/hoses/lines and short-circuit damage are covered in all tiers, but follow-on (consequential) damage is capped at €20,000 under Komfort and is unlimited under Premium, while Basis excludes follow-on damage entirely (A.3.2.5, A.3.2.7).

Source

Vandalism / malicious acts and minor park-damage repair

€250

Malicious or spiteful acts of vandalism by unauthorised third parties are covered under Vollkasko in Basis, Komfort and Premium (A.3.3.3). Premium additionally includes a 'Parkschadenschutz' smart-repair benefit for small body-panel damage (e.g. scratches, dents no larger than a palm) up to €250 per claim, with a €50 policyholder contribution and no separate excess; this benefit is not available under Basis or Komfort (A.3.6.8).

Breakdown/accident assistance (Autoschutzbrief 'Auto Plus')

Optional

Roadside and accident assistance (towing, recovery, onward travel, rental car, repatriation, etc.) is provided via the separate Auto Plus Autoschutzbrief module (A.6). It is a paid add-on under Basis and Komfort liability cover and is included automatically under Premium liability cover; it is not itself part of the Kasko contract but is commonly taken out alongside it (A.1.2.4).

Source

Courtesy/replacement vehicle (value expressed in days, not currency)

€14

Only in Komfort, Premium

After vehicle theft, a free replacement vehicle arranged by DEVK is available for up to 14 days under Komfort and Premium (not under Basis) (A.3.7.6). After a total loss, a free replacement vehicle for up to 14 days is available only under Premium (A.3.6.6). The value_max of 14 represents days, not a monetary amount.

Driver/occupant accident cover

€10,000 – €20,000

Personal accident cover for the driver/occupants is not a default part of Kasko but is offered via two separate modules: the Fahrer-Schutzversicherung (A.4, driver-only, damages-based, sum insured €12 million per claim) and the Kfz-Unfallversicherung (A.5, lump-sum system). Both can be added on request under Basis and Komfort; the Kfz-Unfallversicherung is included automatically under Premium with lump sums of €10,000 (death) and €20,000 (disability), which can be increased on request (A.1.2.5).

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The AKB do not set a specific minimum driver age or experience requirement for casco cover; the vehicle may only be driven by a person holding the driving licence required for that vehicle class (B.3.1.3). Age/experience are instead reflected indirectly via the no-claims (SF) rating system, including special rules for young/new drivers (Junge-Leute-Regelung, B.8.5).

Repair network requirements

Repairs are not generally restricted to a partner network, but policyholders can opt into 'Kasko-Mobil' (workshop tie-in): if agreed, claims must be repaired at a DEVK partner workshop, otherwise the payout is reduced by the agreed deductible plus 15% of the calculated repair cost (minimum €300) (A.3.4.1).

Territorial scope

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories that form part of the European Union (A.3.18).

Anti-theft requirements

No specific anti-theft device (e.g. alarm, tracker) is mandated as a condition of cover. However, benefits can be reduced proportionately for gross negligence that facilitated a theft (e.g. leaving keys in the vehicle), per A.3.16 b).

Claim notification deadline

Any event that may lead to a claim must be reported within one week (B.4.1.1). Theft of the vehicle or of insured parts must be reported without delay (B.4.4.1), and theft, fire or wildlife-collision damage exceeding €1,000 must additionally be reported to the police without delay (B.4.4.3).

Deductible rules

An agreed deductible (Selbstbeteiligung) is deducted from each claim payment unless otherwise agreed (A.3.14). Glass repairs (not replacement) via a DEVK glass partner are reimbursed without deducting the excess (A.3.2.6); in Premium, a windscreen replacement via a DEVK partner reduces the agreed excess by €75 (A.3.2.6). Using a non-partner workshop under an agreed 'Kasko-Mobil' tie-in increases the effective deductible (A.3.4.1).
