Direct payment

For Spar-Kasko repairs carried out at a EUROPA-go partner workshop, repair costs are billed directly between the workshop and EUROPA-go. For standard Kasko claims, compensation is generally paid to the policyholder within two weeks of the claim amount being established (at least one month for theft claims), based on invoices or an assessed repair cost.

Geographic scope

Europe and non-European territories belonging to the European Union

Comprehensive (Kasko) cover applies within the geographical boundaries of Europe and non-European territories that belong to the EU; there is no Kasko cover outside the EU, even where a Green Card exists for third-party liability.

Unique selling points

  • Komfort tariff pays new-price compensation (Neupreisentschädigung) for 24 months after first registration, plus a EUR 2,500 bonus for switching from a combustion engine to an electric/hydrogen vehicle.
  • Cover for gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit) is included as standard in both tariffs, except in cases of intoxication/drug use or making theft easy for a thief, unlike policies that broadly cut payouts for any negligent behavior.
  • 24/7 accident and breakdown hotline with fully digital claims reporting completed online in just a few minutes.
  • The Spar-Kasko variant offers a 15% premium discount plus a six-year repair warranty (30 years for chip repair, 10 years for glass replacement) when using EUROPA-go's certified partner-workshop network.
  • The Komfort tariff includes all-risk cover for EV/hybrid batteries and extensive e-mobility benefits (wallbox, charging cable, battery disposal, condition diagnostics) at no extra premium.

Coverage limits

Own damage cover (Kasko)

Covered

Covers damage, destruction, loss or total loss of the insured vehicle under partial (Teilkasko) or comprehensive (Vollkasko) cover. Compensation is not a fixed sum insured; it is generally limited to the vehicle's replacement value (Wiederbeschaffungswert), with an overall maximum equal to the vehicle's new price (Neupreis).

Total loss / write-off compensation

Covered

In case of total loss, destruction or loss of the vehicle, the replacement value minus residual value is paid. Within 24 months of first registration (Komfort tariff) or only 3 months (Basis tariff), new-price compensation (Neupreisentschädigung) is paid instead of the replacement value. The Komfort tariff additionally pays a used-vehicle purchase-value compensation (Kaufwertentschädigung) for vehicles up to 48 months old within 24 months of purchase, which is not available in the Basis tariff, plus a EUR 2,500 bonus when switching from a combustion vehicle to a first-registered electric/hydrogen vehicle.

Source

Partial damage / repair cost cover

Covered

Repair costs are reimbursed up to the vehicle's replacement value. Age-based 'new-for-old' deductions on replaced parts apply only to convertible soft-tops in the Komfort tariff, whereas in the Basis tariff such deductions also apply to tyres, battery, paintwork, convertible soft-tops and infotainment systems during the first two years, and to all parts from the third year onward.

Theft, robbery & unauthorized use

Covered

Theft, robbery, misappropriation and unauthorized use of the vehicle are covered under partial cover (Teilkasko) in both the Basis and Komfort tariffs. The police must be notified immediately for theft claims exceeding EUR 500.

Glass breakage

Covered

Glass breakage is covered in both tariffs. The Komfort tariff additionally covers bulb replacement and interior cleaning costs after breakage and reimburses non-reusable motorway vignettes/emission stickers; these extras are excluded in the Basis tariff. The deductible is waived on both tariffs if the damage is reported by phone before repair and the glass is repaired (not replaced) at a nominated partner workshop.

Natural hazards

Covered

The Basis tariff covers storm, hail, lightning strike, flood, earthquake and volcanic eruption. The Komfort tariff additionally covers indirect lightning-induced overvoltage damage to electric/hybrid vehicles and snow/roof avalanches, landslide and subsidence (Erdfall); these extensions are excluded from the Basis tariff.

Source

Vandalism / malicious acts

Conditional

Damage from accident and vandalism (malicious or mischievous acts by persons not authorized to use the vehicle) is covered only under comprehensive cover (Vollkasko), in both the Basis and Komfort tariffs; it is not covered under partial cover (Teilkasko) alone.

Roadside assistance / breakdown protection (Kfz-Schutzbrief)

Optional

Roadside and breakdown assistance is not part of Kasko cover itself. It can be added as an optional rider (Kfz-Schutzbrief) for a surcharge of EUR 14.99, available with both the Basis and Komfort tariffs, covering breakdown recovery, towing, and further travel assistance in Europe and non-European EU territories.

Replacement vehicle

€630

Kasko cover does not generally include a replacement vehicle. Under the discounted Spar-Kasko variant, a free courtesy car (small-car class) is provided only while the windscreen is being replaced (not for repairs) at a partner workshop. Broader rental-car assistance is available only via the optional Kfz-Schutzbrief rider (up to EUR 90/day for up to 7 days domestically; up to EUR 630 abroad, regardless of duration).

Driver / passenger accident cover

No limit stated

A dedicated driver/passenger accident insurance is not part of the EUROPA-go Kasko product described in the reviewed sources.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The Kasko cover itself does not state a minimum driver age restriction. Special no-claims-bonus (SF) entry rules apply from age 24 (Zweitwagen-Plus) or 30 (Führerschein-Plus), and accompanied driving from age 17 is subject to specific escort requirements.

Repair network requirements

Standard Kasko customers may choose any workshop freely. Under the discounted Spar-Kasko variant, repairs must be carried out at one of around 600 certified EUROPA-go partner workshops to receive the 15% discount and full benefits (six-year repair warranty, courtesy car for glass replacement); repair at a non-partner workshop is reimbursed at only 85% of eligible costs, and partner workshops are generally not manufacturer-tied contract garages, which may affect the vehicle warranty for financed or leased vehicles.

Territorial scope

Comprehensive cover applies within the geographical boundaries of Europe and non-European territories that belong to the European Union; there is no Kasko cover outside the EU, even where a Green Card is issued for third-party liability.

Anti-theft requirements

The reviewed policy terms do not specify any mandatory anti-theft device requirements for Kasko cover.

Claim notification deadline

Claims must generally be reported in text form within one week of the event. Vehicle theft must be reported immediately in signed text form. The police must be notified immediately for theft, fire or animal-collision damage exceeding EUR 500. For the Spar-Kasko variant, the insurer must be called before the vehicle is taken to any workshop.

Deductible rules

An agreed deductible (Selbstbeteiligung) is deducted from every claim payment. It is waived for glass damage if reported by phone before repair and the glass is repaired (not replaced) at a nominated partner workshop. Under Spar-Kasko, repairing at a non-partner workshop reduces reimbursement to 85% of eligible costs.
