GVV Kommunalversicherung VVaG is a German mutual insurer founded in 1911 by municipalities in the Rhineland-Westphalia region as a self-help risk community, providing liability, vehicle, accident, property and technical insurance for cities, municipalities, districts, municipal enterprises and savings banks. Its wholly owned subsidiary, GVV Direktversicherung AG (GVV Direkt), sells motor, home, liability, accident and legal protection insurance directly to public-sector employees, volunteer firefighters and, since June 2015, the general public.
