ADAC Versicherung AG
ADAC
ADAC is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Germany market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
ADAC Autoversicherung AG is authorized (Regulierungsvollmacht) to settle justified third-party claims directly or reject unjustified claims in the policyholder's name, without needing separate consent from the policyholder.
Geographic scope
Europe (including the European and Asian parts of Turkey) and non-European territories within the scope of the European Union
Coverage applies within the geographic borders of Europe, the Asian part of Turkey, and non-European territories belonging to the EU; scope follows the legally required minimum of the country visited or the contract's scope, whichever is higher.
Unique selling points
- MTPL liability sum insured of EUR 100 million for property/financial loss and EUR 15 million per injured person, far above Germany's statutory minimums.

- Werkstattbonus grants up to 20% discount on the Kasko premium when repairs are carried out at an ADAC partner workshop.
- Fahr+Spar telematics program pays a 10% start bonus plus up to a 30% annual premium refund for safe driving behaviour.

Coverage limits
Bodily Injury Liability
€15,000,000
Covers third-party personal injury claims up to EUR 15 million per injured person per claim event, well above the statutory minimum of EUR 7.5 million; identical across the Basis, Komfort and Premium tiers.
Property & Financial Loss Liability
€100,000,000
Covers third-party property damage and pure financial loss claims up to a combined EUR 100 million per claim event, well above the statutory minimums (EUR 1.3 million property / EUR 50,000 financial loss); identical across the Basis, Komfort and Premium tiers.
Defence Against Unfounded Claims
Covered
The insurer defends unjustified or excessive third-party claims at its own cost as an integral part of the MTPL liability cover; no separate sub-limit is stated beyond the overall bodily injury / property damage sums insured.
International Green Card
Conditional
If ADAC has issued an International Insurance Card (Green Card), MTPL cover extends to the non-European countries listed on the card (unless struck through), applying the scope required in the country visited or the contract scope, whichever is higher.
Roadside Assistance
No limit stated
Not part of the MTPL/Kasko policy documents reviewed; ADAC's Europe-wide breakdown/roadside assistance is a separate ADAC club membership benefit, not a component of this insurance product.
Driver Accident Protection (Fahrerschutz)
€15,000,000
Only in Komfort, Premium
Optional add-on Baustein (Zusatzvereinbarung Fahrerschutz, AAV 0005/01) reimburses the authorized driver's own bodily injury from an accident while driving the insured vehicle, up to EUR 15 million per claim event, as if a third party were liable. It is included in the Komfort and Premium product document sets; it is absent from the Basis product document set.
Passenger Accident Protection
No limit stated
No standalone passenger accident (Insassenunfall) coverage is described in the reviewed AKB, Zusatzvereinbarungen or IPIDs; only the driver is covered under the optional Fahrerschutz Baustein.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Coverage applies within the geographic borders of Europe (including the European part of Turkey), the Asian part of Turkey, and non-European territories within the scope of the European Union; the scope follows the legally required minimum of the visited country or the contract scope, whichever is higher.
Green card rules
If ADAC has issued an International Insurance Card (Green Card), cover extends to the non-European countries listed on it unless the country name is struck through; the applicable scope follows the visited country's legal requirements at minimum.
Driver restrictions
The vehicle may only be used by an authorized driver holding the required driving licence; driving under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances that impair safe control of the vehicle voids the policyholder's protection for that trip.
Claim notification deadline
Any claim event that may result in a payment must be reported within one week; ADAC recommends contacting its 24/7 SchadenDirektruf claims hotline within 24 hours for the best support.
Bonus-malus rules
MTPL (and comprehensive) contracts are classified into no-claims classes (SF-Klassen, from M/0/S up to SF50) based on the claims history; a claim-free calendar year moves the contract up one class per the applicable table, while one or more claims in a year trigger a downgrade per the corresponding rückstufung table.
