Direct payment

Feuersozietät settles justified third-party claims directly in cash and is authorised to satisfy or defend claims raised against the policyholder in the policyholder's own name.

Geographic scope

Europe and the non-European territories of EU member states

Liability cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and EU member state territories outside Europe; if a Green Card is issued, cover extends to the additional non-European countries listed on it that are not struck through.

Unique selling points

  • Liability cover of EUR 100 million per event and EUR 15 million per injured person, far above Germany's statutory minimums.
  • The Mallorca-Police for liability claims from temporarily rented cars, motorhomes and motorcycles abroad is included at no extra cost.
  • Liability cover explicitly extends to accidents caused by failing or faulty automated or autonomous driving systems.
  • Kfz Vario FahrStil rewards young drivers with a guaranteed 30% starting discount rising to 45% for safe driving behaviour.
  • Round-the-clock SchadenSoforthilfe claims support, with glass repairs handled free of charge and without affecting the deductible.

Bodily injury liability

€15,000,000

Source

€100,000,000

The blanket liability sum insured for property damage and pure financial loss combined is EUR 100 million per event, well above the statutory minimum.

Defence against unfounded claims

Covered

If a third-party claim against the policyholder is unfounded, in whole or in part, Feuersozietät defends the claim at its own expense, including any legal costs, with no separately stated sub-limit.

Green Card cover

Covered

Where an International Motor Insurance Card (Green Card) has been issued, liability cover extends to the non-European countries listed on it that are not struck through, at least at the statutory minimum cover of the country visited.

Roadside and breakdown assistance (Schutzbrief)

Optional

Available only as the optional Ergänzungsschutz Schutzbrief add-on alongside Kfz-Haftpflicht for the same vehicle: on-site breakdown help up to EUR 150, towing up to EUR 200 (uncapped if the 24/7 emergency line is called and organises help), misfuelling clean-up up to EUR 500, up to three nights' accommodation at EUR 80 per night, a rental car for up to 7 days at EUR 70 per day, rental-car costs abroad up to EUR 500, and trip-interruption costs up to EUR 2,500.

Driver accident coverage

No limit stated

No standalone personal accident insurance for the driver is offered within Kfz Vario; the driver is only protected via third-party bodily injury liability if injured while not driving (e.g. as a passenger).

Source

Passenger accident/injury cover

Covered

Authorised passengers are co-insured under the liability policy. If a passenger suffers bodily injury and has no other liability cover, compensation is paid out of the same EUR 15 million per-person liability sum, not from a separate standalone accident sum.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Liability cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories of EU member states; the scope follows the statutory minimum cover of the country visited, at least at the level agreed in the contract.

Green card rules

If an International Motor Insurance Card (Green Card) has been issued, cover extends to the non-European countries listed on it whose names are not struck through, applying that country's statutory scope.

Driver restrictions

The car may only be used by an authorised driver holding the required driving licence; driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is prohibited. The circle of permitted drivers is a premium rating factor, and for a special no-claims class the vehicle must be driven exclusively by people aged 25 or over, or by family members living in the same household.

Claim notification deadline

Any event that may lead to a claim must be reported within one week; theft must be reported immediately in text form, and to the police as well if the loss exceeds EUR 500. Third-party claims raised against the policyholder must also be reported within one week, though property damage claims below EUR 500 may first be settled directly by the policyholder.

Bonus-malus rules

New contracts start in class 0 (100% of the base premium) unless a special starting class applies. The premium rate falls to as low as SF 50 (17%) after 50 claim-free years, while claims lead to step-backs under the tables in Annex 1, down to class M (120%). The optional Rabattschutz prevents a step-back for the first claim per calendar year, and a step-back can also be avoided by voluntarily refunding the claims payment (up to EUR 1,200 in liability) within six months.
