Direct payment

ÖSA is authorized to settle or defend liability claims raised against the policyholder directly in the policyholder's name and pays out justified claims in cash on the policyholder's behalf.

Geographic scope

Saxony-Anhalt (regional public insurer)

Cover applies within the geographical boundaries of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the EU; can be extended to additional listed non-European countries via the International Motor Insurance (Green) Card, and to rental-car liability abroad via the optional Mallorca-Police (Komfort tier and above).

Unique selling points

  • Combined MTPL sum insured of EUR 100 million per event for personal injury, property and financial-loss claims, with up to EUR 15 million per injured or killed person – well above the statutory minimum.
  • Free 24-hour accident and breakdown claims hotline for immediate assistance.
  • 'Begleitetes Fahren mit 17' lets 17-year-old learner drivers join the policy without expensive premium surcharges.
  • Attractive second-car classification for spouses, registered partners and children of existing ÖSA policyholders.
  • Optional 'MEIN COPILOT 2.0' device automatically calls for help after an accident and can locate a stolen vehicle, for just EUR 2.50 per month.

€15,000,000

Covers claims for bodily injury/death caused to third parties by use of the vehicle, up to max. EUR 15 million per injured or killed person, within a combined pauschal sum insured of EUR 100 million per event shared with property and financial-loss claims.

Property damage liability

Defence against unfounded claims

unlimited

ÖSA defends the policyholder at its own cost against unfounded or excessive liability claims raised by third parties, in addition to settling justified claims in cash. This is a core MTPL feature and distinct from the separately purchasable ÖRAG traffic legal-expenses (Verkehrsrechtsschutz) product.

International Motor Insurance Card (Green Card)

Conditional

Where ÖSA issues the International Motor Insurance Card, cover extends to the non-European countries listed on the card whose names are not crossed out, at least to the extent of the policy's own scope of cover.

Source

Autoschutzbrief (roadside/breakdown assistance)

Optional

Optional add-on purchasable only together with the MTPL policy, covering breakdown assistance, towing, rescue, replacement vehicle, and help in case of illness or accident on a trip, across Europe, with individual sub-limits per service (e.g. towing up to EUR 150 without prior contact, rental car up to EUR 350 for 7 days).

Fahrerschutzversicherung (driver protection)

€15,000,000

Optional cover for personal injury suffered by the driver in a self-caused accident, purchasable only together with MTPL for a car or camper van; payout for a single event is capped at the MTPL sum insured agreed for the vehicle (max. EUR 15 million).

Kfz-Unfallversicherung (occupant accident cover)

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies within the geographical boundaries of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the EU; scope follows the legally required minimum of the country visited, but never less than the contract's own scope.

Green card rules

If ÖSA issues an International Motor Insurance (Green) Card, cover extends to the non-European countries listed on the card that are not crossed out, and the scope of cover in those countries follows the same rule as for European travel.

Driver restrictions

Only natural persons who hold the driving licence required for the type of vehicle to be insured (according to their age) may take out the contract; the vehicle may only be driven with a valid driving licence and may not be driven, or allowed to be driven, by anyone unable to safely control it due to alcohol or other intoxicants.

Claim notification deadline

The policyholder must notify ÖSA of any loss event that could give rise to a claim within one week; liability claims asserted against the policyholder out of court must likewise be reported within one week of being raised, and court claims must be reported immediately.

Bonus-malus rules

The premium depends on a no-claims class (SF-Klasse) determined by the MTPL and comprehensive claims history per the tables in Annex 1; a claim-free calendar year moves the contract up one class, a claim triggers a downgrade, and an optional 'Rabattschutz' add-on (available from SF-Klasse 5 with Autoschutzbrief, not for the Basis tariff) protects against downgrading after the first claim in a calendar year.
