Direct payment

The first premium becomes due upon receipt of the policy document and must be paid promptly (within 14 days); subsequent premiums are due per the agreed payment period. Monthly payment requires a SEPA direct debit mandate; if collection fails and no mandate exists, billing switches to quarterly.

Geographic scope

Germany

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the EU; scope follows the visited country's legally mandated minimum where higher than the policy's own limits, and extends to non-European countries listed on an issued Green Card unless struck through.

Unique selling points

  • Lump-sum liability cover of 100 million EUR per event, with up to 15 million EUR per injured person — well above German statutory minimum limits.
  • The no-claims discount no longer lapses due to a coverage interruption, removing the usual time limitation on SF-class protection.
  • Temporary widening of the authorized driver circle for up to 30 days a year at no additional premium.
  • Mallorca policy equalises low foreign liability limits on rental cars abroad up to German coverage levels.
  • Digital claims service with GPS-tracked breakdown assistance and smartphone-based rapid settlement for minor damage.

Coverage limits

Bodily Injury Liability

€15,000,000

Liability cover for bodily injury is capped at up to 15 million EUR per injured person, within the insurer's overall lump-sum liability coverage of 100 million EUR per claim event.

Source

Property Damage Liability

€100,000,000

Liability cover for property damage (and pure financial loss) is included within the overall lump-sum coverage of 100 million EUR per claim event; no separate sub-limit distinct from this pauschal amount is stated.

Defence Against Claims (Passive Legal Protection)

Covered

As part of standard MTPL cover, the insurer examines third-party claims, pays justified claims, and defends the policyholder against unjustified claims at its own cost, including in court; no separate monetary limit is stated for this function.

Source

International Motor Insurance Card (Green Card)

Covered

If an international insurance card is issued, MTPL cover extends to the non-European countries listed on it, unless the country name has been struck through; this is a territorial extension without a separate monetary limit.

Source

Roadside Assistance (Kfz-Schutzbrief ONroad)

Optional

Optional add-on providing Europe-wide breakdown and accident assistance around the clock: roadside repair up to 500 EUR, towing up to 500 EUR, vehicle recovery, wrong-fuel remedy up to 2,000 EUR, and further benefits (overnight stays, rental car, key replacement) subject to individual sub-limits.

Source

Driver Accident Protection (Fahrerschutz)

€15,000,000

Optional rider attached to the MTPL contract that compensates the driver's own personal injury (e.g. self-caused accidents) as if a third party were liable; maximum indemnity is 15 million EUR per claim event. This limit is separate from the 15 million EUR per-injured-person sub-limit under bodily injury liability.

Passenger Accident Insurance (Kfz-Unfallversicherung)

Optional

A legally independent, optionally contracted insurance covering invalidity, death, and daily-benefit payments for vehicle occupants (pauschal or per-seat system). Sums insured are individually agreed and shown in the policy schedule rather than fixed in the general terms.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the EU, following the visited country's legally mandated minimum scope where this exceeds the policy's own terms.

Green card rules

If the insurer has issued an international insurance card, cover extends to the non-European countries named on it, provided the country name is not struck through.

Driver restrictions

The vehicle may only be used by an authorized driver holding the required driving licence; the policyholder, holder, or owner must not knowingly allow use by an unauthorized or unlicensed driver, and must not allow the vehicle to be driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Claim notification deadline

Every loss event that may lead to an insurer payment must be reported within one week; if authorities investigate, this and any procedural developments must be reported without delay.

Bonus-malus rules

Rating follows the no-claims class (SF-class) system in Annex 1, based on claim-free contract duration and the number of reported claims. New contracts without a transferred claims history start in SF class 0; annual re-rating occurs each 1 January based on the previous calendar year's claims record, and the no-claims discount no longer lapses due to a coverage interruption of limited duration.
