Passenger accident insurance

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to EU member states; cover follows the mandatory insurance scope of the country visited, at minimum the scope of the policy.

Green card rules

If an international insurance card (Green Card) has been issued, cover extends to the non-European countries listed on it whose names are not struck through.

Driver restrictions

The vehicle may only be used by an authorized driver who uses it with the knowledge and consent of the person entitled to dispose of it, and only by a driver holding the required driving licence; alcohol or drug-impaired driving is prohibited.

Claim notification deadline

Every claim event that could lead to a payment must be reported within one week; immediate notification to the accident and breakdown emergency call centre satisfies this for the whole motor policy.

Bonus-malus rules

Premiums follow a no-claims discount system (SF-classes); contracts are re-rated annually based on the prior year's claims history, with defined upgrade tables for claim-free years and downgrade tables per number of claims; a downgrade can be avoided by voluntarily reimbursing the insurer's payout, or via the optional Rabattschutz feature.
