Coverage limits
Personal injury liability
€100,000,000
Indemnifies the policyholder against third-party claims for bodily injury or death caused by the use of the insured vehicle, up to the sum insured stated in the policy schedule (marketing materials advertise cover of up to 100 million euros for combined personal injury, property and financial loss claims).
Property damage liability
€100,000,000
Indemnifies the policyholder against third-party claims for property loss, damage or destruction caused by the use of the insured vehicle, up to the sum insured stated in the policy schedule (marketing materials advertise cover of up to 100 million euros for combined personal injury, property and financial loss claims).
Defence against unfounded claims
Covered
The insurer defends against unjustified third-party liability claims at its own expense and is authorized to settle or contest claims on the policyholder's behalf.
Green Card / international motor insurance card
Covered
If issued, the international insurance card extends MTPL cover to non-European countries listed on the card whose names are not struck through, according to the insurance scope legally required in the visited country.
Schutzbrief (roadside assistance / travel protection letter)
Optional
Optional add-on, sold as a legally separate contract billed with the MTPL premium, providing breakdown/accident recovery (uncapped if organized via the insurer's emergency call centre, otherwise capped e.g. at 150 euros roadside repair, 200 euros towing), replacement vehicle up to 70 euros per day for 7 days, overnight stays up to 80 euros per person for 3 nights, and further travel-related benefits abroad; ends automatically when the MTPL contract ends.
Driver accident insurance
Excluded
Section A.4 (Kfz-Unfallversicherung) is explicitly marked 'entfaellt' (not applicable) in the Kfz Vario terms; driver accident cover is not part of this product and is not sold as an add-on within these terms.
Passenger accident insurance
Excluded
Section A.4 (Kfz-Unfallversicherung, which would cover injury/death lump sums for occupants) is marked 'entfaellt' in the Kfz Vario terms; no separate passenger accident cover is included or offered as an add-on within these terms.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to EU member states; cover follows the mandatory insurance scope of the country visited, at minimum the scope of the policy.
Green card rules
If an international insurance card (Green Card) has been issued, cover extends to the non-European countries listed on it whose names are not struck through.
Driver restrictions
The vehicle may only be used by an authorized driver who uses it with the knowledge and consent of the person entitled to dispose of it, and only by a driver holding the required driving licence; alcohol or drug-impaired driving is prohibited.
Claim notification deadline
Every claim event that could lead to a payment must be reported within one week; immediate notification to the accident and breakdown emergency call centre satisfies this for the whole motor policy.
Bonus-malus rules
Premiums follow a no-claims discount system (SF-classes); contracts are re-rated annually based on the prior year's claims history, with defined upgrade tables for claim-free years and downgrade tables per number of claims; a downgrade can be avoided by voluntarily reimbursing the insurer's payout, or via the optional Rabattschutz feature.
