Online purchase

Direct payment

The insurer is authorised to settle or defend third-party liability claims directly in the policyholder's name: it pays justified claims in cash and rejects unjustified claims at its own cost.

Geographic scope

Europe and EU territories

Cover applies within the geographical boundaries of Europe plus non-European territories belonging to the EU; extended to non-European Green Card countries not crossed out when a valid International Motor Insurance Card is issued.

Unique selling points

  • Motor liability cover comes with a pooled sum insured of EUR 100 million, including up to EUR 15 million per injured person for bodily injury – well above the statutory minimum.
  • A Leistungsupdate-Garantie automatically extends any future policy improvements to existing customers at no extra premium.
  • Both the KompaktSchutz and PremiumSchutz lines include Mallorca cover for liability claims caused with a rental car abroad.
  • PremiumSchutz customers get an Ausland-Schadenschutz add-on letting them claim directly from Württembergische after accidents abroad where the other driver is liable.
  • The insurer markets its motor claims handling as award-winning for fairness (Focus Money 'Fairste Schadenregulierung').

Coverage limits

Bodily Injury Liability

€15,000,000

Liability cover for bodily injury caused to third parties within a pooled lump-sum limit of EUR 100 million shared by bodily injury, property damage and pure financial loss claims; the amount payable per injured person is capped at EUR 15 million. A statutory-minimum sum insured can be chosen instead.

Property Damage Liability

€100,000,000

Liability cover for property damage and pure financial loss caused to third parties, within the same EUR 100 million pooled lump-sum limit shared with bodily injury claims. A statutory-minimum sum insured can be chosen instead of the pooled 100 million limit.

Legal Defence / Passive Legal Protection

Covered

The insurer defends the policyholder against unjustified third-party damage claims at its own cost and, if necessary, disputes their validity in court; no separate monetary sub-limit is stated for this defence.

Green Card / International Motor Insurance Card

Covered

Where a valid International Motor Insurance Card (Green Card) has been issued, cover extends to the non-European countries listed on it, provided the country name is not crossed out; the scope of cover follows the visited country's statutory minimum, at least matching this contract.

Roadside Assistance (Schutzbrief)

Optional

Roadside and breakdown assistance is not part of the core Kfz-Haftpflichtversicherung; it is available as a separately contracted Schutzbrief module (Teil A.3) covering breakdown, accident and theft assistance for the vehicle and its occupants.

Driver Accident Cover (Fahrer-Schutzversicherung)

Optional

Personal injury to the vehicle's own driver is not covered under the Kfz-Haftpflichtversicherung itself; it can be separately contracted as the Fahrer-Schutzversicherung module (Teil A.4), which compensates the driver's own bodily injury or death from an accident while driving, as if a third party were liable.

Passenger Accident Cover

No limit stated

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies within the geographical boundaries of Europe and non-European territories forming part of the EU; the scope of cover follows the compulsory-insurance requirements of the country visited, but at least matches the scope of this contract.

Green card rules

If a valid International Motor Insurance Card (Green Card) has been issued for the day of the loss event, cover extends to the non-European countries named on it, unless the country name has been crossed out.

Driver restrictions

The vehicle may only be used by an authorised driver holding the required driving licence, and never by a driver unable to drive safely due to alcohol or other intoxicating substances; violations can result in loss or reduction of cover.

Claim notification deadline

Every loss event that may lead to a claim must be reported within one week; property damage claims not expected to exceed EUR 1,000 need only be reported if self-settlement with the injured party fails.

Bonus-malus rules

Contracts are re-rated annually on 1 January based on the prior calendar year's claims record, moving between SF-Klasse 0/M and up to SF 50 according to fixed tables; the optional Rabatt-Schutz add-on protects one claim per year from causing a downgrade but only applies to drivers aged 23 or older.
