Patient legal protection (Premium only)

€100,000

Only available as part of Premium, not standalone.

Source

24/7 emergency assistance

Covered

Source

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

The insured must notify ADAC without delay in case of inpatient treatment, medical repatriation, or death abroad, and must contact ADAC before extensive diagnostic or therapeutic measures (e.g. MRI/CT scans, biopsies, coronary angiography, surgery); the 24/7 ADAC emergency number must be used.

Unauthorized treatment

Intentional breach of the policyholder's duties results in loss of cover; grossly negligent breach allows ADAC to reduce benefits in proportion to the severity of fault, provided the insured was informed beforehand in writing of these consequences.

Purchase while abroad

The contract must be concluded before crossing the border out of Germany; if it is concluded while the insured is already abroad, there is no coverage for that particular stay.

Chronic conditions

Only an unexpected acute worsening of a pre-existing, already-treated chronic illness during the trip is covered (additional costs reimbursed); treatment that would foreseeably have been needed during a planned trip anyway is excluded.

Pregnancy

Covered are complications during pregnancy, medically necessary termination of pregnancy, miscarriage, and premature birth up to and including the 36th week of pregnancy; routine check-ups, preventive care, and births after the 36th week are excluded.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

There is no blanket exclusion of pre-existing conditions; only treatments that were already foreseeable/scheduled to occur during the trip at its outset (based on a pre-existing diagnosis) are excluded, while an unexpected acute worsening of a chronic condition remains covered.

Coverage duration limit

Cover applies for the first 63 days of each stay abroad during the policy term; for longer stays ADAC offers the separate 'Auslandskrankenschutz Langzeit' product, covering 2–24 months.
