Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

The AVB does not specify a fixed contact deadline for reporting a claim; however, benefits requiring organization by Envivas (e.g. repatriation transport, childcare arrangements, hospital visit travel) are only covered if Envivas arranges these services in advance.

Unauthorized treatment

If the policyholder or insured person breaches their contractual duties (e.g. providing required information, undergoing a requested medical examination, mitigating the loss), Envivas may reduce or fully refuse benefits, subject to the limitations of §28 (2)-(4) VVG.

Purchase while abroad

The policy can only be taken out while the insured is still in Germany, before departure. If applied for after crossing the border, cover only begins with the start of a new trip abroad.

Chronic conditions

There is no dedicated chronic-illness benefit; the general pre-existing condition rules apply, meaning chronic conditions whose treatment need was already foreseeable before departure are excluded unless an unexpected acute deterioration occurs during the trip.

Pregnancy

Coverage applies to medically necessary treatment for pregnancy complications, premature birth (up to the end of the 36th week, including care of the newborn until transportable) and miscarriage, plus lawful medically necessary termination. Routine, uncomplicated pregnancy care and delivery are excluded.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Treatment needs that were already medically foreseeable before the trip began are excluded, unless the insured was fit to travel at the outset and an unexpected acute deterioration of their health occurs during the trip.

Coverage duration limit

Cover applies for the first 60 days of any private or business trip abroad; if the return journey is medically impossible without endangering health, cover extends until the insured can safely travel back.
