Coverage limits
Medical expenses coverage
Covered
Covers medically necessary treatment following illness or accident occurring during the trip, including outpatient and inpatient care, medication and remedies; the T&Cs do not state an overall monetary cap for these costs.
Emergency medical treatment
Covered
A covered insured event is medically necessary treatment for an illness or the consequences of an accident occurring on the trip; treatment begins with the medical care and ends once no further treatment is medically indicated.
Hospitalization / inpatient treatment
Covered
Covers inpatient treatment costs including accommodation, meals and nursing care, transport to the nearest suitable hospital, and necessary operations and related costs; accommodation for an accompanying person is covered if the insured is under 18. As an alternative to cost reimbursement, a hospital cash benefit of 30 EUR per day of full inpatient stay can be chosen instead.
Outpatient treatment
Covered
Covers medically necessary outpatient medical treatment costs and the necessary transport to the nearest suitable hospital or doctor for initial treatment, including transport back to the accommodation.
Emergency dental treatment
Covered
Covers pain-relieving dental treatment, simple fillings, provisional dentures, and repairs of necessary inlays and existing dentures; excludes crowns, new dentures, orthodontic, implantological and prophylactic dental services.
Medical transport (local)
Covered
Covers the necessary transport to the nearest suitable hospital or doctor for first treatment or transfer to inpatient care, and the transport back to the accommodation.
Medical repatriation / evacuation
Covered
Covers organization and cost of a medically sensible and justifiable repatriation to the nearest suitable hospital at the insured's home address, if the treating doctor prescribes it, if hospitalization abroad is expected to exceed 14 days, or if further treatment abroad would cost more than the repatriation; costs of an accompanying insured person are also covered.
Repatriation of remains
Covered
Organizes the transport of a deceased insured person to their permanent residence and covers the additional costs; alternatively covers burial at the place of death up to the amount that a repatriation would have cost. No specific monetary cap is stated for the repatriation itself.
Search, rescue and recovery costs
€15,000
Reimburses costs for search, rescue and recovery operations by rescue services abroad following an accident or death, up to 15,000 EUR.
COVID-19 treatment
Covered
The current T&Cs contain no pandemic-specific exclusion, so medically necessary treatment for illness (including COVID-19) is covered under the general illness/accident provisions, subject to the same general limitations and exclusions in section 2.3.
Pre-existing conditions
Conditional
No benefit is paid for treatment whose necessity was already established before departure and which resulted from an illness already medically diagnosed before the trip, unless the trip was undertaken due to the death of a spouse/partner or a first-degree relative; medically necessary treatment for an unforeseen worsening during the trip is otherwise covered.
Winter sports cover
Covered
The T&Cs contain no specific exclusion or separate limit for winter sports as a leisure activity; only persons who work professionally as athletes during the trip are excluded from insurability.
Adventure/hazardous sports cover
Covered
No specific exclusion for leisure adventure sports is stated in the T&Cs; accident-related rescue and treatment costs remain covered under the general provisions, while professional athletes and certain other physically active occupations are excluded from insurability.
Pregnancy complications
Covered
Covers medically necessary examinations/treatment for pregnancy complications, treatment following miscarriage, medically necessary termination, and delivery up to the end of the 36th week; if a premature birth occurs before the end of week 36, treatment of the newborn (if insured with this insurer) is covered up to 50,000 EUR.
Personal liability
No limit stated
Personal liability abroad is not addressed by this travel medical insurance's T&Cs; it is not a benefit of this product.
Legal assistance
No limit stated
Legal assistance/legal protection abroad is not addressed by this travel medical insurance's T&Cs; it is not a benefit of this product.
24/7 emergency assistance service
Covered
A 24/7 emergency phone service is available for organizing medical assistance, arranging hospital cost-coverage guarantees, information services, and transmitting messages to family; reachable at +49 (0) 931 2795 255.
Key conditions
Assistance call deadline
No specific hour-based deadline for calling the emergency service is stated in the current T&Cs; the insured must keep the claim as small as possible, provide correct and complete information, and undergo an examination by a doctor appointed by the insurer if required.
Unauthorized treatment
Intentional breach of contractual duties (e.g. false statements, withholding requested documents) leads to loss of the benefit claim; grossly negligent breach allows the insurer to reduce the benefit proportionally to the severity of fault.
Purchase while abroad
The contract must be concluded at the latest one day before the start of the trip; the T&Cs for this product do not provide for taking out the policy after the trip has already begun.
Chronic conditions
Treatment for a chronic condition is excluded only where its necessity was already established before departure and it results from an illness already diagnosed before the trip; otherwise medically necessary treatment during the trip is covered.
Pregnancy
Coverage during pregnancy is limited to medically necessary examinations/treatment for complications, miscarriage, medically necessary termination, and delivery up to the end of week 36; routine, uncomplicated prenatal care is not the subject of this benefit.
Pre-existing condition exclusions
No benefit is paid for treatment whose necessity was already established before departure due to an illness already medically diagnosed before the trip, except when the trip was made due to the death of a spouse/partner or first-degree relative.
Coverage duration limit
Cover lasts for the agreed period, up to a maximum of 365 days; if the return is delayed for reasons beyond the insured's control (e.g. inability to travel, force majeure), cover is extended until the end of the trip without a fixed additional day limit stated.
