Overview
Intersalonika is a leading Greek insurance group headquartered in Thessaloniki, founded in 1978 by Melas Gianniotis. It is the largest insurance group in Northern Greece and one of the largest 100%-Greek-owned insurers in the country by production, offering motor, property, health, life and marine insurance as well as roadside assistance. The group's life and health business is written by a separate subsidiary, Intersalonika Life and Health (Intersalonika Zois), founded in 1988.

The Bank of Greece has supervised the private insurance market since 1 December 2010 through its Directorate of Supervision of Private Insurance (DEIA), which was renamed, effective 1 January 2025, to the Directorate of Supervision of Professional and Private Insurance (DEEIA). In its 2024 Solvency and Financial Condition Report, Intersalonika AEGA (the general insurance entity covered by this record) reported a Solvency II ratio of approximately 209.5%, up from 193.6% in 2023, while the related life entity, Intersalonika Zois, separately reported a much higher solvency ratio (392.9% in 2023); both figures remain well above the regulatory minimum. The insurer holds active status with COB code GR-1085 and VAT EL094450059.
