Overview
MINETTA Insurance is one of the oldest insurance companies in Greece, founded in September 1973 by Panagiotis Minetas, a family that had been involved in insurance business since 1955, and the company is today fully controlled by the Theocharakis family. It offers comprehensive insurance programs for vehicles, property, health, life, liability and businesses, distributed through a network of over 1,200 professional intermediaries across Greece, with offices in Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion, Crete employing more than 160 people.

Regulatory updates
Supervision of the Greek private insurance market has been exercised by the Bank of Greece since December 2010. MINETTA's Solvency and Financial Condition Report for 2024 showed an 18.6% year-on-year increase in gross written premiums, and more recent company results show total premium production rising a further 19.3% in 2025 to €94.7 million (from €79.4 million in 2024), with pre-tax profit jumping to €11.28 million from €2.76 million, driven mainly by growth in motor (€78.2 million) and an emphasis on life and health lines.
