Regulatory updates
In 2025 RSA Insurance Ireland began rebranding to Intact Insurance following Intact Financial Corporation's 2021 acquisition of RSA Group, with the Irish entity confirming it would be called Intact Insurance by the end of the year while 123.ie retains its own branding. The insurer has a history of Central Bank enforcement action: it was fined €3.5 million in December 2018 for regulatory breaches relating to under-reserved large loss claims and accounting irregularities between 2009 and 2013, its former CFO was fined €70,000 and disqualified for over eight years in 2020, and its former CEO Philip Smith was barred from senior financial roles for 13 years in December 2025 in connection with the same matter.
