Generali Italia S.p.A.
Generali
Generali is a motor casco insurance for the Italy market with no online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Premium is paid at the agency or to Generali Italia upon policy issuance, via cash (within legal limits), POS/electronic payment, non-transferable bank or cashier's check, or bank transfer; the policyholder must pay the premium for the whole insurance period.
Geographic scope
Italy (nationwide)
Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, EU member states, and countries listed and not crossed out on the Green Card; for the Legal Protection guarantee, coverage extends across Europe for extracontractual claims and criminal proceedings.
Unique selling points
- Insures up to 15 historic vehicles owned by the same policyholder under individual policies, with the premium decreasing as the number of insured vehicles grows.
- Uses a dedicated, simplified 8-class bonus-malus scale outside the standard national system, tailored to historic vehicle owners.
- Premium becomes progressively more advantageous as the insured vehicle's age increases, reflecting the lower usage risk of older vehicles.
- Offers a waiver-of-subrogation option so the insurer will not seek recovery from the owner or driver even in cases of non-compliant use.
- Includes a 24/7 roadside assistance service covering towing, journey continuation, hotel costs, and vehicle repatriation in case of breakdown or accident.
Coverage limits
Own damage (collision/accidental damage)
No limit stated
The product does not include a comprehensive own-damage/collision (Kasko) guarantee; only Fire and Theft & Robbery are available as optional accessory guarantees for physical damage to the vehicle.
Total loss (theft/robbery without recovery)
Optional
Only in Furto e Rapina
Available only under the optional Furto e Rapina (Theft & Robbery) guarantee. Total loss means theft/robbery without recovery, or repair costs exceeding 80% of the vehicle's commercial value at the time of the claim followed by scrapping of the wreck; Generali reimburses the commercial value (per the Ruoteclassiche reference magazine) up to the insured value, minus salvage value.
Partial damage (fire)
Optional
Only in Incendio
Available only under the optional Incendio (Fire) guarantee; Generali indemnifies repair or replacement costs for parts damaged or destroyed by non-malicious fire, up to the vehicle's commercial value at the time of the claim. The Furto e Rapina guarantee covers total loss only, not partial theft damage.
Theft and robbery (total loss only)
Optional
Only in Furto e Rapina
Optional accessory guarantee indemnifying only total loss of the vehicle due to theft or robbery (i.e. theft/robbery without recovery); partial theft damage is not covered under this guarantee.
Glass damage / windscreen breakage
Excluded
Glass/windscreen breakage is not among the guarantees offered under this product (R.C.A., Incendio, Furto e Rapina, Assistenza, Tutela Legale); no stand-alone glass coverage is provided.
Natural perils (flood, hail, earthquake, etc.)
Excluded
Explicitly excluded from both the Incendio and Furto e Rapina guarantees: floods, landslides, hailstorms, hurricanes, snow, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes are not covered.
Vandalism
Excluded
Vandalism and malicious acts are explicitly excluded from the Incendio guarantee (tumulti popolari, atti di vandalismo o dolosi).
Roadside assistance
€300
Only in Assistenza
Optional 24/7 assistance guarantee providing roadside towing/recovery (max €300 per claim), continuation of journey/passenger return (max €300), hotel expenses (max €300), and vehicle repatriation from abroad (capped at the vehicle's post-loss commercial value); each service usable up to 3 times per policy period.
Replacement vehicle
Excluded
No replacement/courtesy vehicle benefit is provided; only alternative transport (train/plane ticket) for journey continuation is included under the optional Assistenza guarantee.
Driver accident (personal injury to driver)
Excluded
No personal accident guarantee for the driver is included or offered as an option under this product; the R.C.A. and accessory guarantees cover only third-party liability, fire, theft/robbery, roadside assistance and legal protection.
Key conditions
Driver age and experience limit
The vehicle must be driven by one of up to four drivers named in the policy, or by the owner of an authorized repair/body shop or a mechanic in their direct employ; no separate minimum driver age or experience requirement is stated (the 30/20-year requirement applies to the vehicle's age, not the driver's).
Repair network requirements
No mandatory repair network is specified; Generali may have repairs carried out at a workshop of its choice, replace damaged parts, or reimburse the insured, who must obtain Generali's consent before starting repairs (except for repairs needed to move the vehicle to a garage or restore safe circulation).
Territorial scope
Coverage applies in Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, EU member states, and the countries listed and not crossed out on the Green Card; for Legal Protection, coverage extends across Europe for extracontractual claims and criminal proceedings.
Anti-theft requirements
No specific anti-theft device or security system is mandated as a condition for the Furto e Rapina guarantee in the reviewed documents.
Claim notification deadline
Claims must be reported within 3 days from the date of the incident or from when the insured became aware of it.
Deductible rules
Deductibles (franchigie) and excess percentages (scoperti), where applicable, are indicated in the policy and vary by guarantee; both are doubled for losses occurring and indemnified in non-EU countries.
