Repairs for partial damage carried out within the Scania authorized workshop/bodyshop network (or the manufacturer's affiliated network for non-Scania components) benefit from a 50% reduction in policy deductibles/excesses and no wear-and-tear deduction on genuine Scania parts with a proven causal link, provided the purchase of original parts is documented by invoice. Repairs carried out outside this network are reimbursed at a fixed labour rate of €30.00/hour and standard wear deductions apply from the first year on tarpaulins, batteries, tyres, advertising decals and, in case of partial theft, lights and bumper/fender trims. Claims below €15,000 may be repaired immediately after written authorization from the Scania Claims Management Platform, provided photographs and damaged parts are retained.

Geographic scope

Italy

Europe in the geographical sense, excluding Russia, Belarus and Ukraine; extended to maritime transport within these limits.

Unique selling points

  • 24/7 Scania Assistance hotline provides immediate roadside/recovery support and raises rescue and recovery cost limits from €2,500 to €7,500.
  • Scania-brand vehicles benefit from an extended eligibility window of up to 108 months (9 years) from first registration, versus 84 months (7 years) for other makes.
  • Repairs carried out in the Scania authorized workshop network cut policy deductibles by 50% and waive wear-and-tear deductions on genuine Scania parts.
  • The policy can be taken out at any time, on any transport vehicle or equipment, independently of any Scania leasing or financing agreement.
  • Damage settled within the first 12 months from first vehicle registration is reimbursed at full new-for-old value with no wear-and-tear deduction.

Coverage limits

Own damage (Kasko - collision, rollover, road departure)

Covered

The Kasko section indemnifies material and direct damage from collision with fixed or moving obstacles (including animals), collision with another vehicle, collision while parked with an unknown vehicle, rollover and road departure occurring on public or private areas, up to the insured sum. This guarantee forms part of the single Base Package together with Fire, Theft/Robbery, Natural Events and Sociopolitical Events/Vandalism, and cannot be purchased separately.

Total loss settlement

Covered

Total loss occurs when the insured vehicle is destroyed/lost, or when repair costs plus wreck value exceed the commercial value of an equivalent vehicle. If total loss occurs within 12 months of first registration, settlement is made at new value with no wear deduction; after 12 months, settlement is based on the 'Eurotax Giallo' value on the date of loss, including optional/non-standard accessories. Registration costs for a replacement vehicle are reimbursed if the new vehicle is insured with the same company.

Partial loss / repair costs

Covered

For partial damage, the insurer reimburses repair/replacement costs, spare-parts shipping and transport, and recovery/towing costs to the nearest authorized workshop able to carry out the repair. Deductions for wear depend on vehicle payload and age; repairs at the Scania authorized network with genuine parts benefit from a 50% deductible reduction and no wear deduction (with documented causal link), excluding tarpaulins, batteries, tyres, decals and, for partial theft, lights and bumper/fender trims.

Theft and robbery

Covered

Covers material and direct damage from total or partial theft (consummated or attempted) and robbery of the vehicle, including damage from unauthorized use following the crime (excluding mechanical parts not directly resulting from collision, impact or rollover), up to the insured sum, net of the policy deductible. If the insured declared a satellite anti-theft tracking device (with a corresponding premium discount) and it was not active or the loss occurred outside its coverage area, an additional 20% excess (minimum €2,500) applies.

Glass (Cristalli)

€2,000

Optional 'Cristalli' guarantee, available only together with the Base Package, covering accidental breakage and chipping of the windscreen, side windows, rear window and panoramic glass roof, regardless of cause, on a first-loss basis with a sum insured of €2,000 per claim and per insurance year. A €150 deductible per event applies, waived if the repair/replacement is performed at a Scania authorized workshop.

Natural events

Covered

Covers material and direct damage from avalanches, accidental snowfall (including from roofs), landslides/ground subsidence, meteorite falls, whirlwinds, hurricanes, hail, windstorms, floods, cyclones and typhoons, including damage from objects thrown by such events, up to the sum insured applicable to the Theft guarantee.

Source

Sociopolitical events and vandalism

Covered

Covers material and direct damage from popular riots, strikes, uprisings, acts of terrorism, sabotage and vandalism, up to the sum insured applicable to the Theft guarantee.

Rescue, recovery and repatriation costs

€7,500

In case of total loss, rescue and recovery costs are covered up to €2,500, raised to €7,500 if the policyholder contacts Scania Assistance (24/7 line). In case of partial damage, recovery/towing costs to the nearest authorized workshop are covered up to €2,500, raised to €7,500 via Scania Assistance. Repatriation costs from abroad follow the same €2,500/€7,500 limits.

Replacement vehicle

Excluded

The Kasko section explicitly excludes indemnity for loss of use of the vehicle or costs of a replacement/substitute vehicle, as well as other consequential/indirect damages. A separate 'traslazione della garanzia' clause allows the CVT cover to be temporarily transferred to a substitute vehicle used by the policyholder during repairs, but this is not a rental/replacement-vehicle indemnity.

Driver accident (Infortuni del Conducente)

Optional

Optional guarantee covering death or permanent disability of the driver resulting from an accident while driving the insured vehicle, restricted to duly licensed drivers aged up to 75. Sub-limits apply within the guarantee: no indemnity for permanent disability of 5% or less (only the excess above 5% is paid); medical expenses reimbursed up to €3,000 per event/year net of a €150 deductible; rescue/recovery costs and repatriation expenses reimbursed up to €2,500 for disability exceeding 5%.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

The optional Driver Accident (Infortuni del Conducente) guarantee only applies to drivers holding the prescribed driving licence who are no older than 75 years of age at the time of the accident.

Repair network requirements

For partial damage, repairs must be carried out at Scania authorized workshops/bodyshops (or, for non-Scania components, the manufacturer's network affiliated with the Scania Claims Management Platform); genuine parts must be purchased from that network and documented by invoice. Repairs within the network benefit from a 50% deductible reduction and no wear deduction; repairs outside the network are paid at a fixed labour rate of €30/hour with standard wear deductions from year one on certain components.

Territorial scope

Cover applies to Europe in the geographical sense, excluding Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, and extends to maritime transport within those territorial limits.

Anti-theft requirements

If the policyholder declares the vehicle is fitted with a satellite tracking anti-theft system (which reduces the premium), the device must always be active when the vehicle is left unattended. In case of theft, the policyholder must prove the tracking service contract was active and operating in the area where the loss occurred; otherwise a 20% excess (minimum €2,500) applies in addition to the ordinary theft deductible.

Claim notification deadline

Claims must be reported immediately by telephone to Scania Assistance (24/7) and confirmed in writing (PEC or email) to the Scania Claims Management Platform/insurer within 3 days of the event or of becoming aware of it; theft, robbery, fire, explosion or wildlife-collision claims must also be reported immediately to the police.

Deductible rules

Deductibles/excesses apply per vehicle and per claim as set out in the policy schedule. Following the first claim causing partial damage exceeding €5,000, deductibles and excesses (including their minimums) double for claims occurring in subsequent insurance years. Deductibles are reduced by 50% for repairs carried out within the Scania authorized network using genuine parts.
