Direct payment

The premium must be paid in a single instalment at the time the policy is issued; instalment payment is not available for travel policies. Accepted payment methods include bank/cashier's cheque, bank transfer, other electronic payment systems, or cash within the legal limits; for contracts concluded at a distance, only credit card, bank transfer or PayPal are accepted.

Geographic scope

Worldwide, sold in four selectable destination zones: Italy, Europe (all European countries excluding Russia), World excluding USA/Canada, World including USA/Canada

Cover is valid in the country or group of countries where the trip takes place as indicated in the policy, provided the trip began from the territory of the Italian Republic, the Republic of San Marino, or Vatican City. North Korea and Syria are always excluded.

Unique selling points

  • Two flexible packages — Parti Bene (medical expenses + assistance, with optional legal protection and accident cover) and Parti Benissimo (full protection including cancellation, civil liability, baggage and legal protection) — let travellers scale cover to their needs.
  • 24/7 multilingual Operations Centre with direct payment of hospital and surgical costs abroad, removing the need for the traveller to pay upfront and claim reimbursement later.
  • COVID-19 illness remains explicitly covered under the medical expenses guarantee, unlike the blanket pandemic exclusion many competitors apply.
  • Post-trip medical cover extends to accident-related expenses incurred in Italy for up to 60 days after returning home.
  • Digital self-service 'Home Insurance' area lets customers view their policy status and manage the contract online after purchase.

Search and rescue

No limit stated

No dedicated search-and-rescue guarantee is described in the policy documentation.

Any chronic or pre-existing medical condition (illness or accident) that manifested and/or was contracted before the policy issue date is always excluded from all guarantees.

Winter sports cover

Extreme/adventure activities are excluded across all guarantees, including alpinism above grade III, free climbing, motor racing, ski/hydro-ski jumping, extreme/acrobatic skiing, river canoeing beyond grade III, hydrospeed, bungee jumping, parachuting, hang-gliding, scuba diving beyond 30m or without qualified supervision, unauthorized off-piste skiing, bobsleigh, rafting and kite-surfing.

Included only in the Parti Benissimo package; not included and not addable within the Parti Bene package.

Legal assistance / legal protection

Conditional

Covers legal costs (out-of-court and in-court assistance, lawyers, experts, mediation fees, enforcement) to protect the insured's rights following extra-contractual damage suffered during the trip, managed by DAS. Sum insured as per policy schedule; only operates if the litigation value is at least €100; non-resident lawyer fees capped at €3,000. Optional add-on to Parti Bene; included as standard in Parti Benissimo.

24/7 travel assistance hotline

Covered

A round-the-clock Operations Centre (run by IMA Servizi S.c.a.r.l., toll-free 800.32.76.05, from abroad +39/02/24128391) coordinates medical assistance, transport, interpreters, cash advances and message relay; prior authorization from this centre is generally required to access benefits.

Source

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

For medical expense claims, the insured must contact the 24/7 Operations Centre (tel. 800.32.76.05, from abroad +39/02/24128391) before receiving hospital/surgical treatment, unless proven impossible beforehand; written claims must then be filed within 10 days of becoming aware of the event (5 days for the Accident guarantee), Civil Liability claims within 5 days, and Trip Cancellation claims within 5 days but never later than 24 hours after the scheduled departure.

Unauthorized treatment

Benefits requested without prior authorization from the Operations Centre are excluded from cover, unless the insured proves it was objectively impossible to make contact in advance; where the insured refuses the recommended repatriation, Bene suspends assistance and reimburses further hospital costs only up to the cost of the refused transport.

Purchase while abroad

The policy cannot be purchased once the trip has already started; it must be taken out for the entire duration of the trip and before departure from the insured's habitual residence in Italy, San Marino or Vatican City.

Chronic conditions

Any chronic or pre-existing medical condition (illness or accident) that manifested and/or was contracted before the policy issue date is always excluded from cover under every guarantee.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy pathologies beyond the 24th week, voluntary termination of pregnancy, assisted fertilization and related complications are excluded from medical cover; earlier-stage pregnancy complications may be covered as ordinary illness.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Cover is subordinate to the health of the insured (and of other persons on whose health the trip depends); no cover is provided for medical/health issues that existed before the guarantee's inception.

Coverage duration limit

Maximum covered trip duration is 90 consecutive days. Persons over 70 cannot be insured if the trip lasts more than 30 days, and persons over 75 cannot be insured for any trip duration.
