Direct payment
If medical assistance needs to be organized, the insured must contact ERGO's 24/7 assistance partner InterAssist, which can issue a payment guarantee directly to the medical institution so the insured does not need to pay out of pocket

Key conditions
Assistance call deadline
The insured must do everything possible without delay to obtain emergency medical care, and must coordinate treatment at premium facilities, change of medical institution, or repatriation with ERGO or the assistance service in advance
Unauthorized treatment
If the insured or relatives unilaterally decide, without written agreement with ERGO or the assistance service, to undergo examination, diagnosis, treatment at premium facilities, change of medical institution, or agree to surgery, transport or repatriation, the related costs are not reimbursed
Purchase while abroad
If the insured is already outside their home country when the contract is concluded, the policy enters into force 24 hours after conclusion and full premium payment
Chronic conditions
An exacerbation of a chronic disease is covered as emergency medical assistance, but reimbursement for the same chronic condition is limited to 5 days from the first doctor visit and is paid only once during the contract period
