ERGO
ERGO is a motor casco insurance for the LT market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Insurer pays repair costs directly to the repair shop in most cases; for glass-only damage, tyre damage, or parts theft, payment is made only after repair and submission of payment documents. Payment is made to the policyholder or beneficiary named in the contract.
Geographic scope
LT
Coverage valid in the territory indicated in the insurance certificate; standard casco (Visų rizikų) covers geographic European territory; roadside assistance covers either Lithuania only or geographic Europe depending on contract
Unique selling points
- All-risks (visų rizikų) casco design covers any sudden and unexpected external event causing damage, destruction or theft – not just a predefined list of perils, eliminating coverage gaps common in named-peril products.
- Replacement vehicle is provided for the entire duration of repairs in Lithuania (no fixed maximum day cap) when roadside assistance is included, exceeding the typical 15–21 day market standard.
- Personal effects are automatically covered up to 1,500 EUR per event with no separate premium, including items lost in theft from a locked vehicle – a benefit many competitors offer only as a paid add-on.
- 24/7 claims registration and roadside assistance dispatching via a single helpline (1887), with ERGO staff available around the clock to register the event, provide guidance and organise emergency services immediately.
- New-value (nauja vertė) coverage option compensates theft, total loss and repairs without applying parts depreciation for the first two insurance years, providing full replacement-cost protection on newer vehicles.
Coverage limits
Own vehicle damage
Covered
Covers damage or destruction of the insured vehicle due to direct, sudden and unforeseen mechanical force from outside, fire, explosion, or other insured events. Compensation is based on market value or new value depending on the chosen variant. Total loss threshold is 75% of vehicle value.
Total loss (constructive total loss)
Covered
Vehicle is considered a total loss when necessary repair costs equal or exceed 75% of the vehicle's market value (or new value under the new-value variant) before the insured event. Compensation equals the market or new value minus salvage value. For theft or robbery, compensation equals the market value at the time of the event.
Partial loss / repair
Covered
When repair is economically justified (repair costs below 75% of vehicle value), necessary repair costs are compensated. Under market-value variant, depreciation of parts is applied. Under new-value variant, no depreciation is applied to parts for the first two insurance years.
Theft and robbery
Covered
Covers theft and robbery of the insured vehicle or its parts. Excluded if vehicle keys were left in the vehicle or if the alarm/security system specified in the contract was not activated or not operational. Under market-value variant, insurer compensates the market value at time of event. Under new-value variant, compensation equals the value of a new unused vehicle (first two years only). Benefit reduced by 20% if vehicle documents were left in the vehicle.
Glass damage
Covered
Covers sudden and unexpected damage to vehicle glass (windscreen, rear, side windows, sunroof including panoramic sunroof, mirror glass, light glass) caused by external forces where only the glass is damaged and other vehicle parts remain undamaged. Payment is made only after repair and submission of repair payment documents. No deductible applied for glass chip repair where the glass is repaired but not replaced.
Natural perils
Covered
Covers any damage or destruction of the insured vehicle caused by natural phenomena such as storm, heavy rain, hail, flood, landslide, snow pressure, and similar events. Included as a named insured event under clause 4.1.2 of the 2025-05-01 rules.
Third-party unlawful acts (vandalism)
Covered
Covers any direct damage or destruction of the insured vehicle caused by unlawful acts of third parties, provided this does not constitute theft or robbery. Included under clause 4.1.5 of the 2025-05-01 rules.
Roadside assistance
Optional
Optional add-on covering costs for roadside assistance services organised by ERGO's contracted partner: vehicle transportation after accident or breakdown (unlimited in Lithuania, up to 2,250 EUR abroad), on-site assistance (up to 450 EUR), fuel delivery (up to 450 EUR), lost key retrieval (up to 450 EUR), journey continuation or return (up to 900 EUR), overnight accommodation (up to 900 EUR), travel to/from repair shop (up to 100 EUR), vehicle storage (up to 14 days), replacement car (for full repair period in Lithuania, up to 15 days abroad), taxi during repair (up to 300 EUR). Overall limit for abroad events: 3,500 EUR per incident. Available for Lithuania only or European geographic territory depending on contract.
Replacement vehicle
Optional
When roadside assistance insurance is included in the contract and the vehicle requires repairs for more than 24 hours at an ERGO-approved repair company, a replacement vehicle (M1 category, up to medium class) is provided within 24 hours of vehicle delivery to the repair shop. In Lithuania: provided for the entire repair period. Abroad: up to 15 days. For total loss or theft: up to 15 days. A 100 EUR deposit is required in Lithuania. Alternatively, taxi costs during repair period covered up to 300 EUR. For temporary rental insurance (laikinosios nuomos draudimas) variant: rental up to 15 or 21 days, max 100 EUR/day.
Passenger accident insurance (driver and passengers)
Optional
Optional coverage for death, disability (permanent incapacity) and trauma (fractures and other injuries per schedule) of driver and passengers as a result of a road accident while driving or boarding/alighting the insured vehicle. Insured sums are chosen by the policyholder. Death: 100% of insured sum. Disability: percentage per schedule (Table 1). Trauma: percentage per schedule (Table 2). Benefit reduced 50% if pre-existing conditions contributed.
Key conditions
driver_age_experience_limit
No minimum driver age is stated in the policy rules. However, if the driver's experience (licence tenure for the relevant vehicle category) at the time of the insured event is less than specified in the insurance contract, the deductible is tripled (but not less than 50% of the loss amount). The required minimum experience is defined per individual contract.
repair_network_requirements
Policyholder may choose either an ERGO-approved repair company or their own chosen repair company (registered in Lithuania, with hourly rates at average market level for the vehicle's age and brand). If the contract stipulates repair must be done at an ERGO-approved shop and the policyholder uses their own shop, the calculated benefit is reduced by 20%.
territorial_scope
Casco and passenger accident insurance: geographic European territory. Roadside assistance: either Lithuanian Republic territory only or geographic European territory, as specified in the insurance certificate. The insurance certificate specifies the exact territorial scope.
anti_theft_requirements
No compensation is payable for theft of the vehicle or its parts if: (1) the ignition or door keys were left in the vehicle; or (2) the security system (alarm) specified in the contract was not activated, not operational, or not installed. Additionally, all keys and alarm remote controls must be presented to the insurer following a theft claim. If keys were stolen from the policyholder's home during a break-in, replacement of keys/locks/security codes is covered up to 600 EUR.
claim_notification_deadline
Every insured event must be reported to the insurer within 7 calendar days (via phone, email or in writing). Vehicle theft must be reported within 48 hours from the moment the policyholder or their representative became aware of it. If an accident resulted in death, the insurer must also be notified within 3 calendar days (72 hours).
deductible_rules
A deductible (franchize) is set per vehicle and per insured event as specified in the insurance certificate. Typical deductibles: 100 EUR or 150 EUR for vehicle damage; 5% or 10% of loss for theft. No deductible applies when: (1) the event was not the policyholder's fault and the insurer acquires subrogation rights; (2) paintless dent repair (bedažis lyginimas) is used; (3) glass chip repair without glass replacement; (4) additional expenses listed in section 5.1–5.15; (5) roadside assistance events; (6) passenger accident events. If the driver's experience is below contract minimum, deductible is tripled (min 50% of loss). A 20% benefit reduction applies if the policyholder repairs at their own shop when the contract requires ERGO's shop.
