ERGO Insurance SE Lithuanian Branch (non-life) and ERGO Life Insurance SE (life)
ERGO
ERGO is a motor casco insurance for the Lithuania market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Repair costs are paid based on submitted invoices, either directly to the repair workshop or reimbursed to the policyholder as agreed in the contract; VAT is reimbursed with the indemnity only if the vehicle is actually repaired, VAT was paid for the repair, and the policyholder has no right to a VAT deduction under Lithuanian law.
Geographic scope
Territory stated in the insurance certificate; typically Lithuania and/or geographic Europe
Casco cover applies only within the geographic territory specified in the insurance certificate; roadside assistance separately applies either in Lithuania only or across geographic Europe, depending on the option chosen and stated in the certificate.
Unique selling points
- Personal belongings left in the insured vehicle are covered up to 1,500 EUR if lost or damaged together with the vehicle.
- Electric vehicle charging cables are covered up to 600 EUR, and damage to a charging station while charging the insured EV is covered up to 5,000 EUR.
- A replacement vehicle is provided for the entire repair period in Lithuania with no fixed day limit, or a taxi allowance of up to 300 EUR can be chosen instead.
- No deductible applies when body dents are repaired using the paintless dent removal method, or when a chipped windscreen is repaired instead of replaced.
- Child safety seats fitted in the vehicle are covered up to 600 EUR against damage, destruction or theft.
Coverage limits
Own damage coverage
100% of insured sum
Covers damage or destruction of the insured vehicle caused by direct, sudden and unforeseen external mechanical force, fire or explosion; indemnity is based on necessary repair costs to restore the vehicle's market value (or new value, if that option is chosen) before the loss, and cannot exceed the sum insured stated in the policy.
Total loss / destruction
100% of insured sum
The vehicle is deemed destroyed when necessary repair costs reach or exceed 75% of its value before the loss; the indemnity equals that value minus the residual value after the event, up to the sum insured. The 'new value' valuation option applies for no more than the first two policy years, after which cover automatically reverts to market value.
Partial damage / repair costs
Covered
Repair costs are reimbursed according to the necessary repair costs at ERGO's appointed workshop, or at the policyholder's chosen workshop if pre-agreed with ERGO and supported by payment documents; a deductible applies per event unless an exception applies.
Theft and robbery
100% of insured sum
A stolen or robbed vehicle (or its parts) is reimbursed at its market value (or new value, if chosen) at the time of loss, up to the sum insured; theft is not covered if keys were left in the vehicle or the agreed alarm/security system was inactive, and must be reported to police and to ERGO within 48 hours.
Glass damage
Covered
Covers sudden, unforeseen damage where only the vehicle's glass (windscreen, rear/side windows, sunroof, mirror or light glass) is damaged by an external force, while other vehicle parts remain undamaged; no deductible applies when a chipped glass is repaired rather than replaced. A current promotion offers a 0 EUR deductible on the first glass claim.
Natural perils
Covered
Covers any damage or destruction of the vehicle caused by natural phenomena such as storm, downpour, hail, flood, landslide or snow load.
Third-party unlawful acts (vandalism)
Covered
Covers direct damage to or destruction of the insured vehicle caused by unlawful acts of third parties, provided the act is not theft or robbery.
Roadside assistance
€3,500
Optional cover requiring separate agreement noted on the policy. Includes on-site technical help, fuel delivery, lost-key delivery (each up to 450 EUR), towing/transport after breakdown or accident (unlimited in Lithuania, up to 2,250 EUR abroad), trip continuation/return and overnight accommodation (each up to 900 EUR), travel to/from the workshop (up to 100 EUR), vehicle storage (up to 14 days) and workshop-search assistance (unlimited). Total assistance costs incurred abroad are capped at an aggregate 3,500 EUR per event.
Replacement vehicle
Optional
Provided as part of the optional roadside-assistance cover when repair at an agreed workshop takes longer than 24 hours. In Lithuania it is supplied for the whole repair period with no fixed day limit (subject to a 100 EUR refundable deposit); abroad it is limited to 15 days. A taxi allowance of up to 300 EUR can be chosen instead. A separate standalone temporary-rental option (not tied to a claim) can also be purchased, limited to 15 or 21 days at up to 100 EUR per day.
Driver and passenger accident insurance
Optional
Optional cover, sold alongside casco, for death, bodily injury (e.g. bone fractures) or disability suffered by the driver or passengers of the insured vehicle while it is being driven or while boarding/alighting; the insured sum is chosen individually by the policyholder.
Key conditions
Driver age and experience limit
If the driver at fault at the time of the loss has less driving experience (in the relevant vehicle category) than specified in the contract, the deductible is tripled, but never less than 50% of the loss amount.
Repair network requirements
Repair costs are calculated according to ERGO's appointed repair workshop, or according to a policyholder-chosen workshop whose rates are agreed with ERGO in advance and confirmed by payment documents; if the contract requires repair at ERGO's recommended workshop and the vehicle is repaired elsewhere instead, the calculated indemnity is reduced by 20%.
Territorial scope
Casco cover applies only within the geographic territory stated in the insurance certificate; roadside-assistance cover separately applies either in Lithuania only or across geographic Europe, depending on the option chosen and stated in the certificate.
Anti-theft requirements
No indemnity is paid for theft or robbery of the vehicle or its parts if the ignition or door/boot keys were left in the vehicle, or if the alarm/security system stated in the contract was not activated, not working, or not installed.
Claim notification deadline
Each insured event must be reported to ERGO within 7 calendar days using the contact details stated in the policy; vehicle theft must be reported within 48 hours from when the policyholder became aware of it.
Deductible rules
The deductible stated in the policy applies per vehicle and per insured event, with exceptions (e.g. paintless dent repair, glass repair without replacement, events where a known at-fault third party exists, roadside-assistance and passenger-accident claims). The exact deductible amount is individually agreed and stated in each contract; illustrative example rates of around 100–150 EUR for damage and 5–10% for theft have been used in ERGO's general guidance materials, but are not a fixed rule under the terms and conditions effective from 2025-05-01.
