Direct payment

Medical emergencies abroad are handled through ERGO's assistance partner Euro Asista UAB (available 24/7); ERGO settles eligible medical costs directly with the medical provider through the partner network, rather than reimbursing the policyholder afterwards.

Geographic scope

Territory specified in the insurance certificate by continents and/or countries, excluding Lithuania, the insured's country of permanent residence and citizenship, unless otherwise agreed

Cover does not apply in Lithuania, the country of permanent residence, the country of citizenship, Russia, Belarus or Israel

Unique selling points

  • Body repatriation costs are covered up to EUR 10,000, well above the minimal amounts seen in many basic travel policies.
  • 24/7 medical emergency assistance is provided through ERGO's dedicated partner Euro Asista, with costs settled directly with clinics so travellers don't need to pay upfront.
  • The policy is modular – travellers can add baggage, laptop, travel document, trip cancellation, accident and civil liability covers individually on top of the core medical protection.
  • Emergency dental pain relief is covered up to EUR 200 per policy period, rising to EUR 250 for annual (multi-trip) contracts.
  • Multi-trip annual policies are available, letting frequent travellers stay covered for repeated short trips under a single contract.

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

You must notify us of a health disorder within 30 calendar days of the event, except in cases of death (48 hours) or hospitalization (before receiving inpatient treatment).

Unauthorized treatment

If you fail to use your right to state-funded (Compulsory Health Insurance Fund) medical services when entitled, or use inpatient services without our prior written consent (except where delay is not medically justifiable), we may reduce the claim payment by the amount that would have been covered by the state fund or refuse the related costs.

Purchase while abroad

If you are already abroad when the contract is concluded, cover takes effect 2 calendar days after the contract is signed and the premium is paid, but not earlier than the policy's stated start date.

Chronic conditions

Diagnosis and treatment of chronic and congenital diseases, their complications, and conditions that began before the insurance period, are not covered, except for costs to relieve severe pain or life-threatening conditions.

Pregnancy

Examination and treatment related to pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, childbirth and post-partum complications are not covered, except for emergency medical assistance for pregnancy complications that could not have been foreseen before the policy was concluded or before departure.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

A chronic condition is defined as a health condition that already existed before the trip and/or for which the insured consulted a doctor, was treated, or took medication within the 6 months before the policy start date; treatment of such conditions is excluded except for emergency care.

Coverage duration limit

Cover applies only for the number of days stated in the policy for a single trip. If the insured is still hospitalized when cover ends for reasons beyond their control, cover (including repatriation) continues for up to 28 additional calendar days from the end of the insurance period.
