Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

For medical emergencies abroad, the insured must contact ERGO or its medical assistance partner Euro Asista (+370 52 322 944, claims@euroasista.lt) immediately. For inpatient treatment, contact must be made before receiving inpatient services. For illness during a stay in the USA, Canada or Australia, contact ERGO or Euro Asista before attending a healthcare facility (if medically possible). General health condition events must be reported within 30 calendar days; death must be reported within 48 hours; hospitalization must be reported before receiving inpatient services.

Unauthorized treatment

The insurer may reduce the insurance benefit if the insured fails to fulfil the obligation to use compulsory health insurance (NHIF) entitlements for inpatient treatment services. The reduction equals the amount that would have been reimbursed by the NHIF. Additionally, inpatient services must not be used without prior written confirmation from ERGO, except in cases where any delay is not medically justified. Body repatriation and accompaniment/visiting services require prior written confirmation from ERGO.

Purchase while abroad

If the insured is abroad at the time of contract conclusion, coverage commences 2 calendar days after the contract conclusion and premium payment date, but no earlier than the coverage start date stated in the policy certificate. This waiting period does not apply if the contract was concluded before departure.

Chronic conditions

Chronic diseases (conditions existing at departure or for which consultation, treatment, or medication occurred in the 6 months prior to departure) are excluded. Exception: costs of relieving severe pain and life-threatening conditions caused by chronic or congenital diseases are covered. Addiction, oncological diseases, STDs (including HIV), and mental disorders are excluded without exception.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy examinations, childbirth, abortion, and postpartum illnesses are excluded. Emergency medical assistance for unexpected pregnancy complications (that the policyholder/insured did not and could not anticipate before the contract date or departure) is covered. Trip cancellation due to pregnancy, abortion, childbirth, or related complications is also excluded from travel cancellation cover.

pre_existing_conditions

Pre-existing conditions (consulted, treated, or medicated in the 6 months prior to departure) are excluded. Emergency life-threatening treatment for chronic/congenital conditions is the only exception. Addiction, oncological, and STD/HIV conditions are absolute exclusions. Known health conditions that arose in the 12 months prior to contract conclusion are excluded from trip cancellation cover.

coverage_duration_limit

For single-trip policies, coverage applies for the number of days stated in the policy certificate but no later than the policy end date. For multi-trip (annual) policies, coverage for a single trip is limited to the number of days stated in the policy certificate. If a covered event arises during a multi-trip period and inpatient treatment continues beyond the last covered day, the medical expenses cover is extended by up to 28 additional calendar days. Coverage cannot extend beyond 28 calendar days after the policy end date for ongoing treatment of a covered condition.
