Key conditions

Territorial scope

The car is insured throughout Europe, in all countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, and in any other country shown on the Green Card that has not been crossed out; the vehicle is also covered while being transported between those countries.

Green card rules

Policyholders can print their own Green Card from the online policy portal; the vehicle is only covered in the countries printed on that card that have not been crossed out.

Driver restrictions

There is no cover if the driver was not legally allowed to drive (e.g. no valid licence, other than an expired licence for a driver under 70), or if the driver had more alcohol, drugs or medication in their system than legally permitted and this affected their ability to drive safely.

Claim notification deadline

A claim must be reported within 3 years after the policyholder became aware of the loss, otherwise no payment is made; if a claim is rejected in whole or in part, the policyholder has 1 year from the rejection notice to go to court.

Bonus-malus rules

Premium is set on a 20-step bonus-malus scale based on claim-free years recorded in the national Roy Data register; a claim-free year moves the policyholder up a step (lower premium), while one or more reported claims move them down several steps (higher premium), with a starting step of 7, 6 or 5 depending on the policyholder's age if no claim-free years are on record.
