OHRA (brand of Nationale-Nederlanden Schadeverzekering Maatschappij N.V. / OHRA Zorgverzekeringen N.V.)
OHRA
OHRA is a travel insurance for the Netherlands market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
In emergencies the OHRA Assistance Service contacts the policyholder's Dutch health insurer so that it pays medical costs directly; if needed, the Assistance Service advances the costs itself against a guarantee that the amount will be repaid as soon as possible after the policyholder returns home.
Geographic scope
Policyholder chooses cover for trips within Europe (including the Netherlands, the Azores, the Canary Islands, Madeira and non-European countries bordering the Mediterranean) or worldwide.
In the Netherlands cover only applies to booked trips with at least one paid overnight stay; abroad, cover follows the chosen scope (Europe or worldwide) shown on the policy schedule.
Unique selling points
- Policyholders can freely choose between Europe-only or worldwide cover and a maximum trip length of 45, 90, 180 or 365 days, tailoring the policy to their travel pattern.
- Baggage cover is available in three selectable limits (Basis €1,250, Plus €2,500, Top €5,000), letting customers match the cover to the value of their belongings.
- The OHRA Assistance Service is reachable 24 hours a day and can advance emergency medical costs abroad against a repayment guarantee.

Included in the base cover: up to €1,250 per event for damage the insured is liable for to the accommodation rented during the trip or its contents. The policyholder must contact the OHRA Assistance Service as soon as possible when help is needed; the Assistance Service decides what help is given and which costs are reimbursed.

The insured may not arrange assistance independently; if the insured does not fully cooperate with the Assistance Service, OHRA may stop giving help or reimbursing costs.
Purchase while abroad
Not addressed in the reviewed policy documents.
Chronic conditions
Help needed because of an illness, condition or disorder for which the insured was already being treated abroad before the trip began, or intended to seek treatment for, is not covered.
Pregnancy
Costs related to an existing pregnancy are excluded, except unforeseeable complications of that pregnancy, which are covered if treatment could not be postponed until return to the Netherlands.
Pre-existing condition exclusions
Medical costs needed because of an illness or condition that already existed, or caused symptoms, before or on the start date of the trip are excluded from the Medical Expenses module.
Coverage duration limit
The policyholder selects a maximum trip duration of 45, 90, 180 or 365 consecutive days on the policy schedule; if a trip unexpectedly lasts longer due to circumstances beyond the insured's control, cover continues for as long as that situation lasts.
