Regulatory updates
In February 2026, ASF sanctioned Groupama Asigurari S.A. with a fine of 23,800 lei for non-compliance with legal requirements regarding its internal control system. This sanction, alongside one against Grawe, only became publicly visible on ASF's website in May 2026 after press investigations (Oficiul de Știri) revealed that ASF had not been publishing insurer sanctions in a timely manner, which ASF Vice-President Sorin Mititelu acknowledged as a 'discrepancy.' This follows a 2023-2025 pattern in which ASF had fined Groupama multiple times (including 50,000 lei in June 2025 for claims-handling deficiencies, and 340,600 lei across three 2023 sanctions for AML compliance, RCA payment delays, and corporate governance breaches) after the company became the largest RCA insurer following Euroins' bankruptcy. ASF's RCA reference tariffs continue to be updated periodically.
