Overview
MetLife has operated on the Slovak insurance market since 1995, originally under the name Prvá americko-slovenská poisťovňa (Amslico), becoming part of MetLife Inc. in 2010 and rebranding fully to MetLife in 2015. It now operates through two Irish-incorporated branches, MetLife Europe d.a.c. and MetLife Europe Insurance d.a.c., offering life, accident and travel insurance to individuals and businesses, with close to a 10% share of the Slovak life insurance market and more than 500,000 clients.

Regulatory updates
MetLife Europe d.a.c. and MetLife Europe Insurance d.a.c. continue to operate in Slovakia as branches of Irish-incorporated entities authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland. As EU-passported branches, prudential supervision remains with the CBI, while the Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) is named as supervisor of specific product creators (e.g. TrendLife, PlusLife) in the insurer's key information documents. The company's registered branch address (Pribinova 10, Bratislava) has been undergoing an internal office modernisation since February 2026, with client services relocated within the same building during renovation. No specific recent sanctions or extraordinary regulatory actions against MetLife Slovakia have been found in public sources.
