AXA Assistance is a travel insurance for the Slovakia market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
AXA's assistance service arranges and pays medical costs directly to foreign hospitals and other foreign providers on the insured's behalf; other benefits are paid in the currency valid in Slovakia at the NBS mid-rate on the date the event occurred.

COVID-19 treatment and quarantine costs

General treatment of COVID-19 as an acute illness is covered under the medical expenses benefit in all tiers, since the pandemic exclusion explicitly does not apply to COVID-19. Additional COVID-quarantine accommodation/meal costs and return-to-Slovakia costs are covered up to 600 EUR (KOMFORT) or 1,200 EUR (EXCELENT); not available under REFERENCE. EXCELENT also covers COVID-19 treatment up to 1,000,000 EUR in areas subject to a travel warning.

24/7 assistance service

A medical and travel assistance service (claims handling, coordination with medical facilities, cost guarantees) is included in all tiers. The EXCELENT tier additionally includes a free 'Doctor on the phone' tele-consultation service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Key conditions
Assistance call deadline
Claims must be reported to the insurer without undue delay; transport, repatriation, extended hotel stays and similar assistance services must be pre-approved by the assistance service before being arranged.
Unauthorized treatment
If the insured refuses the repatriation, treatment or medical examination recommended by the insurer's doctor or the assistance service, the related costs are not reimbursed; if a breach of the insured's duties materially affected the claim, the insurer may reduce the payout proportionally.
Purchase while abroad
If the agreed start date coincides with the date the policy is concluded, cover begins only after 4 hours from conclusion of the contract, provided the premium has been paid.
Chronic conditions
Chronic conditions diagnosed at least 6 months before the policy start are excluded if the health status, treatment or medication changed within the 12 months before conclusion; stabilized chronic conditions remain covered under the general medical limit in all tiers, while destabilized chronic conditions are covered only under EXCELENT up to 40,000 EUR.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy tests, interruption, complications of pregnancy after week 32, high-risk pregnancy, childbirth, infertility treatment and contraception are excluded; a child born before week 32 during the trip is covered under the medical expenses benefit and shares the mother's limit.
Pre-existing condition exclusions
Treatment of illnesses or injuries that already existed in the 12 months before the policy start is excluded, except for stabilized chronic conditions (covered in all tiers) and, under EXCELENT, destabilized chronic conditions up to 40,000 EUR.
Coverage duration limit
For single-trip policies the insured period is freely chosen; if it exceeds 180 days, a further single-trip policy may only be concluded after a 30-day gap. For repeated-trip (annual) policies, each individual trip abroad may last up to 90 consecutive days, after which cover for that trip lapses until the insured returns to Slovakia and crosses the border again.

Compensation for flight delays exceeding 6 hours (meal and accommodation costs up to 360 EUR). Flight cancellation insurance is included in EXCELENT variant only.
