Geographic scope

Spain, Europe (including Mediterranean-border countries), Worldwide depending on selected territorial scope

"Spain": Spanish territory (peninsula and islands); "Europe": Europe and Mediterranean-border countries: Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Syria, Turkey (Integral) + Jordan (Prestige); "World": worldwide. Medical air transport limited to European space and Mediterranean-border countries.

Unique selling points

  • Prestige tier is the only plan in this product line that covers medical expenses abroad arising from the aggravation of pre-existing illnesses, a feature typically excluded by competitors.
  • CASER operates a proprietary 24/7/365 Assistance Center with experienced managers who coordinate medical care, transport and all covered services directly — no third-party outsourcing.
  • Medical repatriation and sanitary transport are organized and fully funded by the insurer without a stated monetary cap, using the insurer's own medical advisory team to determine the most appropriate means of transport.
  • Both Integral and Prestige tiers include comprehensive legal defence (Cobertura Defensa Jurídica) up to €3,000 per claim covering administrative, judicial and arbitral proceedings, with the insured's right to freely designate their own lawyer.
  • The product offers three selectable territorial tiers (Spain, Europe, World) and within Europe the definition is unusually broad, covering Mediterranean-border countries including Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Syria and Turkey.

Coverage limits

Medical expenses

Emergency medical treatment

Covered

Emergency medical treatment arising from an unforeseeable illness or accident is covered as part of the general medical expenses guarantee (sections 1.1 and 1.2 of the T&Cs). All medical, surgical and hospitalization expenses prescribed by a physician are covered up to the limit in Condiciones Particulares. The insurer coordinates care through its own medical team. Exact monetary limits are defined in the Condiciones Particulares, which differ by tier and territorial scope.

Source

Hospitalization expenses

Covered

Hospitalization costs prescribed by a physician are covered as part of the medical expenses guarantee (sections 1.1 and 1.2). Supplementary costs for private or individual hospital rooms are excluded. Exact limits are set in the Condiciones Particulares and vary by tier and territorial scope (Integral and Prestige). The insurer provides a companion travel and accommodation allowance when hospitalization exceeds five days (section 3.2 and 3.3).

Source

Outpatient medical treatment

Covered

Outpatient medical consultations and pharmaceutical expenses prescribed by a physician are covered under the medical expenses guarantee (sections 1.1 and 1.2) up to the limit set in Condiciones Particulares. Costs incurred after return to domicile or for treatments that can be deferred are excluded. Psychological, psychoanalytic, rehabilitation, cosmetic and preventive treatments are explicitly excluded.

Medical transport and repatriation

Covered

The insurer covers all transport costs (regular aircraft, mobile unit, medical aircraft where applicable) to the nearest hospital and then to the insured's habitual domicile in Spain. The insurer's medical team decides the means and timing of transport; the insured must comply or coverage is suspended. Medical air transport (air ambulance) is limited to Europe and Mediterranean-border countries; beyond this zone only regular-line aircraft is covered. Cost limits are not specified in the general conditions — the insurer undertakes full organization and payment. Applies to both Integral and Prestige.

Source

Medical evacuation

Covered

Medical evacuation to the most suitable hospital and subsequent repatriation to Spain is organized and funded by the insurer (section 2.1). The means of transport is decided exclusively on medical grounds. Air ambulance use is limited to Europe and Mediterranean-border countries. Beyond this zone, only regular-line aircraft is used. The insured must follow the insurer's medical team indications; non-compliance suspends all cover. Applies to both tiers.

Repatriation of mortal remains

Covered

If the insured dies during a covered trip, the insurer organizes and fully covers the transfer of the body to the place of burial in Spain, including post-mortem conditioning costs (embalming and minimum legal coffin required for transport), but excluding burial and ceremony costs. Companion insured persons (spouse and children under 25 living together, or two companions) also have their transfer covered. Applies to both Integral and Prestige.

Search and rescue expenses

Optional

Section 3.7 of both Integral and Prestige T&Cs states that the insurer covers search and rescue costs up to the maximum set in the Condiciones Particulares in case of accident, by civil or military rescue services or any official emergency organism. Only costs invoiced by an accredited operator are reimbursable. However, the General Exclusions (section 6 of Integral/Prestige CCGG) explicitly exclude rescues at sea, in caves/pits (simas), deserts or mountains — unless in the latter two cases the insured is using established public roads. The IPID also expressly lists sea/cave/desert/mountain rescues as not covered. This coverage therefore only activates in very limited circumstances (e.g. rescue on an established road in a mountainous area). Must be pre-authorized via the Assistance Center. Available in Integral (includes section 3.7); not listed as a standard coverage in the IPID.

COVID-19 treatment

Not offered

Neither the Integral nor the Prestige General Conditions contain any specific clause covering or excluding COVID-19 medical treatment. The IPID does not mention it. COVID-19 tests are not referenced in these product documents. No coverage can be confirmed from the verified sources for this product line.

Pre Existing Conditions

Winter sports and skiing coverage

Optional

By default, both Integral and Prestige explicitly exclude claims arising from winter sports, skiing, motorsports, mountaineering, climbing, high-altitude excursions above 4,000 m, non-recreational diving (below 20 m), spelunking, bungee jumping, hang-gliding, paragliding, skydiving, hunting, combat sports, and similar activities. A surcharge (sobreprima) can be agreed with the insurer to add such activities — the T&Cs state "salvo pacto en contrario y aplicación de la sobreprima que corresponda". Coverage can therefore be activated as a paid add-on with the insurer's explicit acceptance.

Adventure and dangerous sports coverage

Optional

Adventure and dangerous sports are excluded by default (definition section of T&Cs and general exclusions). The definition of "Deportes o Actividades Peligrosas" includes a long list of activities. However, the insurer allows these to be added via explicit prior agreement and payment of the applicable surcharge ("salvo pacto en contrario y aplicación de la sobreprima que corresponda"). Professional sports practice and participation in competitions, training sessions and bets are excluded in all cases with no surcharge exception. Bullfighting and taurine events are absolutely excluded.

Pregnancy complications

Conditional

Pregnancy complications are covered only up to and including week 28 of pregnancy. Complications occurring from week 29 onwards are explicitly excluded (exclusion d) for both Integral and Prestige). Voluntary termination of pregnancy and childbirth are excluded in all cases. Complications during any stage of pregnancy are excluded if the insured woman had prior complications in previous pregnancies. Coverage activates only for unexpected complications before week 29 in a woman with no prior pregnancy complications.

Personal liability

Legal defence assistance

Covered

The insurer covers the insured's legal defence expenses (lawyer and court agent fees, notarial costs, expert costs, court costs imposed by sentence) arising from administrative, judicial or arbitral proceedings during the trip, up to €3,000 per claim (as stated in the Legal Defence section of both CCGG). Covered guarantees include: legal information in Spain and abroad, damage claims, purchase/service contract claims, criminal liability defence, flight cancellation/delay claims (the latter must be expressly contracted in CCPP). The insured may freely designate a lawyer and court agent. Applies to both Integral and Prestige.

24/7 assistance center

Covered

CASER operates a proprietary 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year Contact Center reachable at +34 910551602 (stated in CCGG section 4 of both Integral and Prestige). All covered guarantees must be requested through this center. The insurer has its own medical advisory team that coordinates transport and hospital decisions. Telephone calls may be made collect (cobro revertido). Applies to both tiers.

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

Claims must be reported to the insurer within a maximum of 7 days of learning of the incident (section 2.2 CCGG). All services must be requested and organized exclusively through the designated 24h assistance telephone number (+34 910551602) before incurring costs; expenses not pre-authorized by the Assistance Center are not reimbursed.

Unauthorized treatment

The insurer will not cover any expense that has not been previously requested and organized through the Assistance Center. If the insured refuses medically indicated transport, all guarantees and resulting costs are automatically suspended. Reimbursements are not processed for services provided without the insurer's prior consent.

Purchase while abroad

The insurance is only valid for trips departing from and returning to Spain. Policy must be issued before the trip start date. For trip cancellation cover, the policy must be issued on the same day or within a maximum of 7 days of the travel booking confirmation or ticket issuance. Purchase while abroad is not contemplated.

Chronic conditions

Chronic conditions, pre-existing illnesses and their complications or relapses are excluded from medical expenses coverage in the Integral tier. In Prestige, medical expenses from pre-existing conditions abroad are covered up to the limit in Condiciones Particulares. For both tiers, repatriation due to worsening of pre-existing conditions is covered (section 2.1 Integral and Prestige CCGG). Conditions that are being actively treated or receiving medical care within 30 days prior to trip start are excluded.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy complications are covered only up to week 28 (complications from week 29 onwards are excluded). Voluntary termination of pregnancy and childbirth are excluded. Complications during any stage of pregnancy in a woman who had prior complications in previous pregnancies are excluded. For trip cancellation, pregnancy complications up to week 29 may qualify as a covered cause, provided no prior pregnancy complications existed and the complication is not a consequence of pre-existing illnesses.

pre_existing_conditions

Integral tier: pre-existing and chronic conditions are excluded from medical expenses and most other guarantees, except repatriation due to aggravation (section 2.1) and the exclusion of 30-days-prior-treatment conditions applies. Prestige tier: pre-existing conditions are covered for medical expenses abroad up to the Condiciones Particulares limit; the policy defines pre-existing illness separately and includes aggravation of pre-existing conditions as a covered cause for trip cancellation.

coverage_duration_limit

Trips must not exceed 93 consecutive days (stated in the IPID). The general exclusions of both CCGG (section 8) exclude stays outside the insured's country of residence or nationality exceeding 92 consecutive days. For multi-trip annual policies, the Legal Defence section states individual trips must not exceed 90 consecutive days. The policy is temporal and cancels automatically at the contract end date.
