The company was originally founded in 1999 as Interlife Insurance, renamed Prime Insurance after a 2011 merger, and acquired in 2025 by Austrian group Grazer Wechselseitige Versicherung AG (GRAWE), becoming its 19th insurance subsidiary.

The company officially joined the GRAWE Group on July 16, 2025, following regulatory approval of the acquisition of a 98.7% stake by Grazer Wechselseitige Versicherung AG. The rebranding from Prime Insurance to GRAWE Cyprus was officially announced at a special event on October 7, 2025.
