Regulatory updates
Helvetia Versicherungen AG operates in Austria under a concession granted by the FMA (Finanzmarktaufsicht, Otto-Wagner-Platz 5, 1090 Vienna) pursuant to the Insurance Supervision Act 2016 (VAG 2016), and remains subject to ongoing FMA supervision. At the group level, Helvetia Holding AG and Baloise Holding AG completed their merger of equals on 5 December 2025, forming 'Helvetia Baloise Holding Ltd', headquartered in Basel and now the largest multi-line insurer in Switzerland and a leading European insurance group. On 1 July 2026, following approval by Switzerland's FINMA, the underlying Swiss insurance operating companies (Helvetia Schweizerische Versicherungsgesellschaft AG / Baloise Versicherung AG, and their life counterparts) were also legally merged; the Austrian subsidiary Helvetia Versicherungen AG continues to operate under the Helvetia brand and its existing FMA concession, with customer contracts unaffected.
