Belfius Insurance SA/NV remains authorised by and registered with the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) under insurance company code 0037, while Belfius Bank SA/NV, acting as its tied insurance agent, holds FSMA number 019649 A. On 4 September 2024, Belfius Bank concluded an agreed settlement with the FSMA involving a payment of EUR 1 million for issuing bonds without an FSMA-approved prospectus, alongside a commitment to reinforce its legal risk management. More recently, in December 2025 the Belgian government officially approved a partial privatisation of the wider Belfius group, with a 20% stake sale planned for autumn 2026, and in June 2026 Belfius expanded its insurance activities internationally by acquiring French insurer Leocare.
