Direct payment

According to Triglav osiguranje's official Croatian MTPL claims guide (Ključne informacije za oštećenu osobu), the default process is reimbursement: the damage assessment report ('Izvid štete') is delivered to the injured party/vehicle owner and, only with the injured party's consent, also to the repair shop, and it is not itself a statement of liability. The injured party is free to choose any repair shop, either independently or from Triglav's partner network, and once the repair is completed according to the assessment, compensation is paid out. Triglav also explicitly offers a direct-payment channel for MTPL claims: repair invoices can be certified and payment made directly to the repair shop's bank account, provided the vehicle owner supplies a power of attorney (sent to 'ovjeraracuna@triglav.hr'), meaning both reimbursement to the policyholder and direct settlement with the garage are possible depending on documentation provided.

Geographic scope

Croatia

Covers use of the vehicle in the Republic of Croatia; a Green Card certificate confirms validity of the cover in other countries that are part of the Green Card system.

Unique selling points

  • AO can be extended with a wide family of Triglav add-ons under one provider — AO+ driver injury cover, kasko, roadside assistance, accident insurance and legal protection.
  • The AO policy can be concluded online in just a few steps directly on Triglav's website.
  • Policyholders can reach a dedicated assistance line free of charge from Croatia, with a separate number available when calling from abroad.
  • Triglav positions AO and voluntary kasko cover as complementary layers of protection rather than substitutes, encouraging combined coverage for newer or financed vehicles.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

The policy covers use of the vehicle within the Republic of Croatia; validity abroad in Green Card system countries is evidenced by the Green Card certificate.

Green card rules

The Green Card is an international document confirming valid MTPL cover, recognised by police and insurers in numerous European and neighbouring countries that are part of the Green Card system; it may be required as extra proof when travelling to certain non-EU/EEA countries.

Driver restrictions

Cover may be denied or limited if the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, psychoactive medicines or other psychoactive substances above the legal limits set by Croatian traffic safety regulations.

Claim notification deadline

Bonus-malus rules

Premiums are adjusted through a bonus-malus system: a claim-free period typically earns a bonus (premium reduction), while a reported claim typically results in a malus (premium increase); this is reflected in the policyholder's premium class.
