Direct payment

Geographic scope

Croatia and Green Card System member countries

Coverage applies to the territory of the Republic of Croatia and countries participating in the Green Card System; the list of member countries is available from the Croatian Insurance Bureau or the Green Card issued with the policy.

Unique selling points

  • Policyholders can customize their MTPL cover by combining optional add-ons (accident insurance, roadside assistance, legal protection, driver cover, glass breakage) to fit individual needs under the "Moj (o)siguran auto" concept.
  • AO Plus add-on compensates the at-fault driver for bodily injury or death, a benefit not covered by standard compulsory liability insurance.
  • Bonus Protection add-on lets policyholders keep their accrued no-claims bonus even after a small at-fault accident.
  • Policies purchased through the Wiener webshop receive a 10% discount on the total premium, and single upfront payment by cash or card earns a further 5% discount.
  • Roadside assistance add-ons provide an unlimited contact center helpline available 0-24h, 365 days a year, with on-site assistance guaranteed within 45 minutes anywhere in Croatia.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Coverage extends to the territory of the Republic of Croatia and to countries participating in the Green Card System.

Green card rules

The list of Green Card member countries can be found on the Croatian Insurance Bureau website or on the Green Card document issued with the policy.

Driver restrictions

Compensation rights are limited or excluded if the driver had no valid license, drove under the influence of alcohol/drugs, caused damage intentionally, drove a technically defective vehicle, caused the accident through reckless driving, allowed transport of persons in a non-designated space, or used the vehicle for a purpose other than intended.

Claim notification deadline

The policyholder/insured must notify the insurer of the damage event as soon as possible, e.g. via prijavasteta@wiener.hr for non-life claims.

Bonus-malus rules

Wiener Croatia applies the standard Croatian bonus-malus system for MTPL (autoodgovornost): policyholders earn a bonus discount that increases for each claim-free year, while an at-fault claim triggers a malus surcharge on the next year's premium. Wiener offers an optional add-on clause called 'Zaštita bonusa AO' (Bonus Protection, policy clause WK 10.0110-17) that allows policyholders to keep their accumulated bonus discount even if they cause an accident and a claim is paid out, preventing the usual bonus loss/malus increase.
